Psalm 107,Study 1,Rebuilding From Captivity,

Psalm 107,Study 1,Rebuilding From Captivity,

REBUILDING FROM CAPTIVITY

And this is what we are going to look at in this next series

As the end result of the disobedience of Gods people being exiled and captive in babylon

The Four types of people

The four types of soil

And the subsequent release of Gods people to rebuild the temple in Jerusalem

And the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem

...................

BABYLON

This is why we glanced at the story of Daniel with King Belshazzar, king of Babylon,

This was the beginning of the end and the writing on the wall for babylon

Now we begin the "Rebuilding From Captivity"

Jeremiah 33:7

I will bring Judah and Israel back from captivity and will rebuild them as they were before.

Gill's Exposition

And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return,.... Mention being
made of the return of the captivity of Israel, or the ten tribes, as well as that of Judah, shows
that this prophecy does not relate to the return of the Jews from their seventy years' captivity
in Babylon; but is to be understood spiritually, of a release of the mystical and spiritual Israel
of God from the captivity of sin, Satan, and the law, by the Messiah:

and will build them as at the first; in the latter day, as at the beginning or first times of the
Gospel; when the temple of the Lord was built by Christ, as the chief master builder, and by
his apostles under him, upon himself, the foundation of the apostles and prophets; he being
the corner stone of it, whereby it became a habitation for God through the Spirit.

Since that
time, by means of heretics and false teachers, and especially by the man of sin, the tabernacle
of David, or church of Christ, is greatly fallen into ruin, and needs rebuilding and repairing;
and this will be done; and then it will be a beautiful structure, as at the first, or as it was in the
times of the apostles;

FORETOLD

A long time before all this occurred Isaiah the prophet spoke about these things

Isaiah 13:19 Isaiah 14:23

The destruction of Babylon and the release of Gods people

Isaiah 45:1

Here we see the Medes (persians) attacking Babylons gates

Again we see the plans of God unfolding as the Prophet Isaiah foretells the future
events that would take place long before they ever happened

God knew you see ! yes He knew before these things happened and spoke through His prophets

He knew that Israel would walk through the wilderness and like the prodigal son turn away
and end up "feeding with the pigs"

He knew that His chosen Ones would be taken captive and their "promised" home, destroyed
and invaded by babylon

But Listen..........

Isaiah 43

But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, and He who formed you, O Israel:
“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine.”

Isaiah 43:2

2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you and when you pass through the rivers,
they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.

There you go Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego you will not be burned and did the promise
come true ?

God says that instead of bypassing the tough times that when we go through the tough times
then , He will be with us

........................
THE PRODIGAL SON

And so the Prodigal Son returns home

Exodus 20:2-17

"O Lord God I have sinned against you and made images for myself and served other gods

I have taken your name in vain and with our rebellion many have perished as a warning and
sign , in the wilderness and in the day of salvation I did not listen

I have murdered with my worship of false gods putting even my own family through the fire

I have committed adultery with these gods and and stolen from You to give to them,

I have misled my neigbour lied and gossipped about them and sought to have what they
have by conforming to their ways "

I repent Lord God in Jesus name and return to You

.............................

Gods reply

Isaiah 43:18-21

18 “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past.19 See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?

I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. 20The wild animals honor me,
the jackals and the owls, because I provide water in the desert and streams in the wasteland,
to give drink to my people, my chosen, 21the people I formed for myself that they may
proclaim my praise.

Forget the former things and do not dwell in the past

See God is doing a new thing

Even now it springs up

Do you see it ?

Take your mind off the past , see look...I am putting your thoughts and mind and future to a new thing, perceive it

INTRODUCTION

Psalm 107 was written by an anonymous author and was written at the time to celebrate the return of Gods people from exile where they had been held captive for some 70 years

After this time began the return of the jews

Daniel 9:2

In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, understood from the Scriptures, according to the word of the LORD given to Jeremiah the prophet, that the desolation of Jerusalem would last seventy years.

Jerusalem was burned and destroyed and thousands killed, the higher society and educated were taken captive to Babylon to be taught the ways and customs of the captives and to be of use

The temple was now destroyed.

NOW the land lay desolate for 70 years enough time for the land to enjoy her sabbath rest.

2 Chronicles 36:21 The land enjoyed its sabbath rests; all the time of its desolation it rested, until the seventy years were completed in fulfillment of the word of the LORD spoken by Jeremiah.

Matthew 18:21

Then Peter came to Jesus and asked, "Lord, how many times shall I forgive my brother when he sins against me? Up to seven times?"

This is why we are going to be examining the
