Psalm 96

Author Gatekeeper (Guardian)

Psalm Ninety Six

We are going to look at Psalm 96:1-13 in conjunction with 1 Chronicles 16:23-36

As you will see that these are almost identical, one of many duplicated scriptures in Gods word

Notice the slight differences between Psalm 96:1-13 and 1 Chronicles 16:23-36

1 Chronicles 16:23-36 is at the time when David brought the Ark of God into the City of
David and placed it into the tent, here God tabernacled with His people and this scripture in
1 Chronicles is known as the “Hymn of Praise.”

We see that this was when David leapt for joy and skipped into the City before the Ark

And so this Hymn Of Praise came at a time when David was indeed given a new song

..............................................

And now we go back to Psalm 96:1-13

Again we are encouraged to Sing A New song to the Lord Jesus

In fact let the whole earth sing to the Lord Luke 19:40

Remember that even though we are Children of the King, God loves all people and His
Love is for all and not just refined to His Children

We are encouraged like David to tell the good news Luke 4:43 Matthew 4:23 Matthew 28:19-20

Psalm 96:5-10 reminds us to fear God and put down other gods of the heart

And again, we see "The World stands firm and cannot be shaken"

And "He is the great Judge"

Psalm 96:11-13 shows and displays how even creation shouts His praise,

And it finishes with Gods Judgement and Justice

SING A NEW SONG

And so with this in mind let the Holy Spirit enable you NOW , TODAY, to sing a new song to
God

Allow the Holy Spirit to use your mind and hands to type out a song to The Lord

Enable now and stir up the gift within you to post a song to God

Wd all each one of us have a new song in our hearts if we are His Children , we already have
this new song, we already have this anointing

................................

I will begin, and you continue
................................

Lord God in heaven, Holy is Your Name in all the earth

I will shout and sing your song today

I will let the rising of the song course jubilant celebration within me

I will proclaim in this temple the joy of your salvation

I will sing a new song TODAY

Let this Temple give glory to your name as you tabernacle in me

he knew their would be no killing on gods holy mountain
this in our world yes on our earth where we can walk
no wonder he sang a new song

........................................................

Jacob says:

I will sing a new song to the Lord of my life
Whatever situation , circumstance or strife
Whenever Im alone , in need or in doubt
The the Lord I will sing, I will dance, I will shout
........................................................

gatekeeper says:

Psalm 96 mentions "Let the earth rejoice"

"The sea shout His Praise"

"Fields and crops shout for joy"

"Trees rustle with praise"

How does nature and Gods creation proclaim the maker ?
........................................................

gatekeeper says:

RELATIONAL WALK

And so we see that the Christian walk is a "relational walk"

We are saved, even though at times we as "Christ ins" may feel like we are not saved

We might fall "Out of Love" with God and even divorce Him in our hearts

But He will never divorce us

But this relational walk involves feelings....does'n it !

A relational walk without feelings would be a bit strange to say the least

And we have to work at a relationship ....don't we ?

A relationship does not make itself, a relationship is not a one way thing,

A relationship has to develop, it has to grow, it has to progress..............

Revelation 2:4

But in the developing of our relationship we will benefit

In the progession of our relationship we grow to know the heart of God

We begin to understand His heart and in this is the "revelation"

God has feelings, God has emotions, God has relationships with everyone !

Even satan himself has a kind of "relationship" with God

Non believers, in a way have a "relationship" with God in that , God loves everyone

It may only be a one way relationship but nonetheless God loves them

So how does this relational walk affect my salvation ? that is "My initial salvation"

That is my salvation from "hell" my salvation from the old life to the new ......

Well it does'nt, when God says He will do something and when God saves , He saves

God is , what He says, He cannot lie, what God has begun , He will finish.

But what of the ongoing relationship ? to continue to be saved ?

That requires something on our part and not just on the part of the "Lover"

And so we have this two way relational walk with God through Jesus who is the
Bridegroom in waiting

gatekeeper says:

OBEDIENCE

What if obeying God supercedes obeying your parents ? what IF one is greater than the other,
what if God is bigger and greater than a commandment ?

Luke 2:41-51

48 When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, “Son, why have
you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.”

.
I wonder who Jesus was obeying by going to the Cross ?

Scripture declares that we should obey our earthly parents but the Lord prayer states "Your will
be done in earth"

Is not obeying God higher than obeying a commandment ?

I wonder if Joseph and Mary would have wanted their son to be crucified like a common
criminal ? I think not, yet Jesus obeyed His heavenly Father above all else

What if I was convicted by the Holy Spirit today , now , this very moment of making a
commandment bigger or of more importance than God Himself ?

I have a choice ....

1.

Do I obey God and repent of my putting something above God ?

2.
Do I continue to obey a comandment ?

which is of the highest importance ?

...........................

Not one can ever keep a single commandment 100% of the time and yet we look to children
to obey their parents ?

And yet I have never known of a single child who obeys their parents 100%

If indeed they did their would not have free will

...............................

SUBMISSION

Yes if indeed the Church obeyed the lord and submitted to God 100%

And the husband submityted to the Church 100%

And the wife coiuld then submit to the husband 100%

then yes the children could submit tho their parents 100% and 100% of the time

............................

THE TEN COMMANDMENTS

As it is none of us can keep any commandments, thus we live in "relationship" under grace

The hanging on the commandments as the basis for a "Christian" life will always fail as I for
one can never live up to them, in fact trying to keep "no other gods before me" just on its own
means that I have broken a commandment a thousand times over just by trying to keep a
commandment that may well be on level par with God Himself makes it a god in itself

The only way I could keep "no other gods before Him" would be to lock myslef in a
whitewashed room with nothing but a bible and even then the bible itself could become
a god as I take my attention off God and onto the bible, thus not making God 100% in my
focus and attention

Yes you can murder people in more ways than one, the tongue holds the power of life and
death

And Ive committed spiritual adultery millions of times

I can;t even keep the greatest commandment myself, as I can't honestly say "I do always love
the Lord with all my heart and with all your soul and with all your mind" in fact there are times
when I don;t love myself that much let alone my neigbour

Now before you start praying for me...........

Scripture declares

Matthew 22:36-40

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38
This is the first and greatest commandment.

And so when I break the least of the Commendments , I break the greatest,

Becasue how on earth can I have a god or commit adultery in my heart and say" I Love the
Lord God with all my heart and with all my soul and with all my mind. ?

I cannot even keep that greatest comandment for when I break the least I break the greatest

I remember a guy who commited adultery and went with another woman and he lost
everything including his ministry and he said "you know ...I still love God"

"No he did'nt, not at that time he did'nt, " for how could he say that when he had broken one
commandment ?

.............

SCRIPTURE

You know, there was a guy who married a prostitute and soemone siad to him

"God told you to marry a prostitute ?. tell me...where in the bible does it say that you have to
marry a prostitute ? its not scriptural ? God would,nt want that for your life ? thats not Gods
will for your life ? tell me the scripture that says , you have to do that ? and you say "God
spoke to you ? "

Hosea replied "Yes God told me to do this"

You know theres nations and not just people who are making gods out of money, power,
materialism,

Adulterising with power and wealth

I wonder how many Hosea's are walking around today as a outward visible sign of what is
going on in the hearts of nations ? let alone people and individuals

Deuteronomy 6

4Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one.a 5Love the Lord your God with all your
heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.

This commandment was not kept Hosea 1:2

.................................................................

gatekeeper says:

And so we obey God above all else, as we come to the story of Uzzah

And relate it too, Psalm 96:1-13 And 1 Chronicles 16:23-36

.................................................................

GODS WAY

gatekeeper says:

David being a man after Gods heart, was continuing to seek God and to learn from
His ways

And we know that David had made many mistakes and in His haste too carry the
Ark Of God to the City, he had carried the Ark in the fashion of the philistines

Here David was naked before God, a King "naked" ? dancing in joy, dancing in celebration,
dancing in delight, now God was coming to the City and was to be tabernacled with man

Mere man whom dwells in this temporary tent called a body, this passing and dying
piece of flesh that we know will never last forever

Here is God and God Himself can now come and dwell in this temporary dwelling place
in Davids City

The same happens in heaven when someone becomes a Son of God, there is great jubilation
and celebration as the angels dance around the Throne Of God and God dances over a new
child , as the child calls Him "Abba Father"

Now God has come to dwell with man and Jesus walks among His people

And so here in 2 Samuel 6:14 we see that this David was dancing and praising before
God , "naked"

He was like "Adam and Eve", without sin, before they fell and took something that was forbidden

Naked before God as they walked with God...in other words...God and they were in union
, fellowship, communion, as it was meant to be

You say "David had sinned , how on "earth" can you relate David with Adam and Eve ?

Isaiah 43:25 Hebrews 8:12 Ephesians 4:32 1 John 3:19-20

And so David was naked before God and dancing with Joy

........................................

gatekeeper says:

DAVID DANCED

Now David wore an Linen Ephod and we know that Adam and Eve may have worn some kind of covering

A linen Ephod was a shoulder-dress used at these occasions

1 Samuel 2:18 1 Chronicles 15:28 Judges 11:34 Judges 21:19 1 Samuel 18:6

You know the question here is not "Why did God "destroy" Uzzah.......

The question should be "Why did God not destroy all present ?

......................................................................

gatekeeper says:

So, David danced before the Arch and before His God, in a linen Ephod, as one with His God

As one with the people, dancing and celebrating with the people

Here the man after Gods own heart was one with God and the people dancing and celebrating

Here the man after Gods own Heart , who searched for God and sought God above all else
was naked before God with the people

Not dressed in Kingly attire, not robed in majestic splendour as would be fitting for a king,
not being carried as a king, not with all the fanfare to show his status and authority

Not entering the City of David with pomp and ceremony, with trumpets and fanfare with the
people announcing the arrival of the king

But David dances before 'THE' Ark Of 'THE' King arrayed in nothing more than a linen Ephod

Dancing on the ground with his people before the Ark

This was Gods City and David rejoiced and was full of Joy

Not to celebrate His own arrival , but to celebrate the arrival of THE KING OF KINGS

Philippians 2: 5-7 Isaiah 42:1-7

Jesus arrival into the world was not with pomp and ceremony

He came into the world as a babe, as a Servant King, to do the will of the Father,

He came into the world with nothing and He pointed to the Father and leading multitudes into
the Kingdom, he owned nothing of His own

..........................................

GOVERNOR

People were expecting a ruler and governor who would lead them , they were expecting an earthly ruler, one who would overthrow and take over, one who would be their earthly king and leader

In Jesus they found a servant King, quite the opposite of what they were expecting

..........................................

In David the people wanted an earthly King, one who was like other Kings, who had all the pomp and ceremony, but instead David pointed the 'THE KING OF KINGS'

David the servant of the people, danced before His God

..........................................

David could not do as other kings because he was "owned" he belonged to God

He was "taken",

He made so many mistakes for which he was accountable "in life"

So many "commandments" were broken, "murder" - "adultery"

And yet here he was dancing naked before God as "Adam and Eve"

What excitement when you find out that all your debts have been cancelled ?
