Cross & Clouds
Cross & Clouds (Photo credit: John H Wright Photo)

Lord God in Jesus name we gave you our lifes that belonged to you and you give us your life, let
us walk in that salvation every day as indeed you will save us when the time comes, In Jesus Name amen

Now stay with me on this, don't flick through these words as you would, looking for the best parts,
looking for any words of wisdom that you might find useful in your life only to briefly glimpse and
then forget

You know every word of the bible is God breathed and Gods been around for a lot longer than we have

Have you come to a Cross Roads ?

Ooo yes it seems like God is a million miles away at the moment, it seems like theres God and you are
and theres this great big wall between you

But do you know who builds the barrier ? its not God you know ?

Even once we are saved we can build walls or the enemy can build walls between us and God and
it needs something SUPER natural to tear down that wall

It may be that we ourselves have built a wall around us EVEN as Christians, because we simply do not
want to get hurt AGAIN

It may be that we have built walls between us and God because we simply have let the "worlds" troubles
flood around us and we have taken our eyes off the Lord

It may be that we are in a situation that seems impossible BUT remember that He is "IN POSSIBLE"

Whatever wall has formed between you and God lets take time too come to Him now and talk to Him
before we start this message

You know before you take communion you should put things right with your fellow man and with
your fellow believers OR those who are not in your family, even your enemies (those you do not get
on with ?)

In former times your neighbours were the boundaring enemies who would destroy and kill you

Here we are simply talking about people we disagree with, those who plan to hurt us or those we
simply do not like or get on with

So before we start lets put things right with God by putting things right with others

You say " We are not taking communion ? " Well you are just about to commune with God

The whole of the Christian life is about communion with God'nt it ? you are "Communicating"
with Him ! you are in A "Community" you have something in "Common " ? you are a part of the "Body? "
Right ?

We feed on Him and we are saved by what ? by the Blood

So it is not simply just putting things right at the last minute before you take the Lord supper is it ?

Communion is an ongoing thing, we are to release ourselves of that thing we have against someone
almost as soon as possible, straight away, if we do not it will harbour and it will start to form. like a
mustard seed that grows and grows inside

The mustard seed we read about in the bible is'nt just about faith you know !

That example is used in regards to faith but many things can grow in our lifes like "Mustard seeds"

And so before we continue communicating and being in communion with each other lets take time to
bring to God any of those barriers and walls that have formed

We may hold onto things simply because we do not want to let go of them, they become part of us
and we might want to hold onto grudges, attitudes, hurts, past memories, Unforgiveness or even
that ailment or health issue, simply because we like a good moan or grumble or that thing has developed
to be a part of us

Almost like an old friend that we hold onto because through all the times of uncertainty and anxiety
that old friend has always been there for us, its kind of developed in us like a mustard seed and become
a part of us

It acts like a security for us to fall back onto

I remember lots of occasions when speaking to certain people and making major decisions involving
them and me....those people would suddenly fall back too " O you know Im so not right myself you know,, I have this and that and so and so"

Suddenly they have become anxious and uncertain and fallen back onto their old friends, which might
be an anxiety , fear, problem, hurt, memory,

Jesus wants us to fall back onto Him on these occasions, He wants and longs to be our security, our
friend, the one we fallback onto

And so before we begin the message, lets draw from that well who is Jesus, lets throw anything that
may hold us back , that we might be holding onto and lets throw it down that well

And draw up from that well the things that God wnats us to hold onto

Lets draw a picture in our mind s now and act out a prophetic motion

Take that thing , whatever it is, whether it be drink, smoking, hurt, feeling, thoughts, memories,
fears, ....whatever it might be that we hold onto for security, whatever it might be that we hold onto
that brings a wall between us and God

Lets see what that is, and hold it in our hands before God and literally throw it down the well

Create a picture in your mind of a well, its in front of you now, throw that problem that resentment,
that fear, that worry, that "whatever God shows you now " lets take it in our hands before God and
throw it down that imaginary well

Now wait for the echo ???? can you hear it hit the bottom ?

This may sound silly but your putting your "old friend" in your mind, your showing it/him to God,
your imagining the "well" your showing the Lord that you want to get rid of that thing, and you are
acting out before God that which you want to get rid of

Prophetic action , before God...

This is biblical stuff, you will find this many times through the bible, one example is Acts 21:9-12

Now have you given whatever it was to God ? have you thrown your security, your old freind, your
wall, your barrier, your fear, your worry, your anxiety, your protection policy, your insurance,
your "just in case I need it" friend ...down the well ?

Now close that picture in your mind and restart, restart the same as you do each day, restart the same
as you do each time with God, lets restart the picture

Now picture a rope in front of you, start pulling on that rope, does,nt matter how silly you look in front
of other people (if there are people in the room ) start pulling on that rope and draw up from the well

Jesus is that well you are drawing from, He is that living water, imagine now you are thirsty, imagine
now as you pull that rope , see that bucked coming up from the well yet ?

Keep pulling, don't give up, now the bucket is at the top'nt it ? say "YES"

Now take a cup, you know ...the cup which in in front of you...the one you can see, but is'nt there

The cup you see in faith that is'nt there.....take it....put it into that bucket ....

Are you doing it ? are you acting it out ? don't worry about what others might think about you

This is between you and God, this is between me and God, Im doing it.....are you ?

So you have taken the cup that is in front of you ? and you've put it into the bucket and you are
now going to drink that water ....are,nt you ?

Ready ? ,........ lets drink the water of life now

Now is that better ?

Keep doing this over and over and over and over, again and again and again and again

You see you have come to a turning point, you have come to a Cross roads

This may be a time when you want just to start letting go, it may be a time when you want to simply
have the desire to let go, it may be a time when God simply wants you to start thinking about leting

It may be that when the time is right then God will do it and enable you to do it, He will give you the
ability to do it

Sometimes its simply about waiting on God if you have the desire to let go of "the old friend"

Don't think "O that did'nt work so its useless" "O I gave it as try but it did'nt work"

Thats exactly what the enemy would want...instead keep on , keep on, keep on,

Desire, thought, act, it sometimes is a long process, and every time this thing might come back
take control of it, you have the authority in Jesus, command it to go

You may have to yo yo where the same history , the same habits, the same reocurring situations,
the same thoughts, the same temptations keep coming back over and over and over

You say , "I,ll never be able to do this myself ? " and God says "Thats the point"

The enemy who is satan or those he uses will keep on bringing those things back time and time

You will be tested and these thoughts, desires or actions Might reoccur, there might be a chink
in the armour, where God has not been allowed total control, where we have held back, where
we hold onto things just for that "security - the old friend"

The enemy will find that chink in the armour and he will keep pounding at it , unlike God who knocks
on the door, the enemy beats down the door, he attacks the door of the heart, he will always copy
God and counterfeit what God does

And if he can't do it that way he will do it anyway he can (Only if he has permission and even when
he does not)

So we /I might need to come back to God time and time again, each time we see or know of that
reocurring situation, that reocurring temptation, that reocurring thought, that reocurring habit and
take command of it in Jesus name

So lets act out another prophetic action....are you ready ?

Lets go into communion with God here as a community and if your sitting at home reading this from
the site then join in

Weight Lifting

Now take that thing, whatever it is in your hands !

Take that secret thought, that desire, that sin, that wrong motivation, that habit, that temptation,
that thing that comes between you and God on a regular basis !!!

Take it in your hands now and offer it to God, show it to Him,

Are you ready for the exercise ?

Hold out your hands in front of you , facing upwards and offer whatever it is to God

Now see that "thing" lifting up to God , see Him take it, see Him take it on the Cross

Now clasp your hands together as you hold them in front of you and raise up your arms, like
you are lifting a weight, pretend you are lifting a bar with weights on either side, your in the
olympics and your a weight lifter ....right ?

Hold up your arms still clasping onto weight weight as heigh it it will go, its heavy'nt it ?

See how long you can hold your weight up there...... not easy is it ? its heavy !

You can't hold your arms up like that for too long can you ? and yet thats what we try to do at
times when we hold onto burdons and and try to take the whole world onto our shoulders

Now you still have our arms held up in the air ? and we are still clasping onto that weight ....yes ?

Now open your hands and say " I release this to you Lord Jesus"

Now while you still have your arms up in the air, you can now change the picture and this time
pretend you are pulling a weight down, like pulling down a shutter, your hands are facing towards you
and you are about to pull down, you are clasping your hands and you are pulling down

And as you pull down , you say " Come Lord Jesus come"

And each time you pull down you are saying , " come Lord Jesus come"

Now do the same action time and time again lifting up for release and giving

Pulling down to ask God to come , you are pulling down , pulling down , pulling down,

You can do this or any exercise on a regular daily basis , make up your own exercises

It beats buying fitness videos and combines prayer and talking to God

By doing this prophetic action above , you have lifted up that sin, lifted up that thought, lifted up
that burdon, lifted up that action, lifted up that habit, lifted up that desire , lifted up that false
motivation and given it too God

And you have pulled down to yourself those things that God wants you to receive, to take their place

No good giving to God without receiving is it ? He will always give back far more than we can ever
give Him, so when you give Him those things, those secrets of the heart , He will replace those things

No good having an empty house that nice and tidy and clean ...but empty is it ?

What will happen ? yes it will get untidy, cluttered and dirty again, your house never stays clean for
long does it ?

Instead draw down, draw down , receive , receive, receive, ask and it shall be given unto you

When we let go of something God will replace it for something even better...wont He ?

You won't be left without your "old friend" and with a life that seems empty, in fact that thing
you give to God will be replaced with new things, far better

This is half the battle inside, letting go and thinking that you are loosing, when in fact you are
going to gain , not just the benefits of letting go of that habit or sin , but God will replace

And so you have lifted up to God and drawn down to receive

Lets do it one more time and I want to see all of you lifting up your arms and hands this time >>>>

"Lord Jesus I receive, Lord Jesus I receive, Lord Jesus come to me "

Yes Im doing it too, so if you think you look silly thats okay ,

You ask "when are we going to pray ?

Well you have above, you have already prayed to God in in so doing the above you have turned and
begun to change direction, you have turned around, you have in turn , repented and you have asked
for God to come closer

You have asked Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit and you taken from Him

You see prayer is not just praying as in words , prayer is not just asking for things,

Prayer incorporates a way of life and becomes part of life, prayer is communication in all its ways

Prayer can be waiting on God , prayer can be listening to God, prayer can be seeking God, prayer can
is a part of worship of the heart which in turn is a part of the whole Christian life and lifestyle

Prayer takes many forms, as does worship, worship is not simply singing on a sunday morning at Church

As we may already know , worship also can be that seeking and praising , and praying and reading about God

It can be thinking on Him and meditating on Him, it can be serving Him and giving to Him in many
ways and various forms, worship as indeed prayer is a thing of the heart, worship can be as simple as giving someone a drink when they are thirsty

Above in the movements and acting out of pulling at and tugging at that rope, where you drank of that
water, where you asked God to come closer or you asked for more of God you were in fact worshipping and praying repenting and being filled , and can we say "being saved"

Salvation is an ongoing thing, it is a past tense and a present tense but also a future tense

In the mere motion of asking God to draw nearer and seeking Him you were indeed repenting

Repentance does not start and end at salvation when a person becomes a Christian

Neither does salvation, repentence is a way of the heart, it is an attitude of the heart, you could say
repentance is simply turning to God, turning to Jesus, you are actively seeking Him and in so doing you
are turning away from your own wants and needs to seek Him

You are taking your sin (I) and thinking On Him, you are turning

Salvation goes hand in hand with that everyday , every moment seeking, one day at a time seeking
and drawing nearer,

"Hold on" you say, "I am saved , I don't need to be saved again, I have repented I don't need to repent

"God is already in me and a part of me I don't need to ask Him to draw near or nearer do I ?"

"I already have the Holy Spirit in me , I don't need to ask for the Holy Spirit"

Well seek God on this and ask Him if you need more of Him , if you need to grow in him , if you need to have more and more of God in your life, if you need to have more and more of His Holy Spirit in
your life

If you need to draw nearer to Him, if you need to be saved from situations you find yourself in , if you
need His intervention at times in your life, if you need His help from time to time to get you out of situations

If you need to get to know Him better, If you need to grow in Him , if you need to seek His will for your life

If you want more of Him and less of yourself, if you need more wisdom, more patience, more fruit, more love, more ability, more anointing, more more more

And I think you will find that He will say to you, "Draw near to me and I will draw near to you"

I think you will find Him say "I love you and I want you to seek me and to grow in me , desire my

Ps:34:18. The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, And saves such as have a contrite spirit.
19. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, But the Lord delivers him out of them all.

I wonder how close deliverance is to salvation ?

Psalms 51:17. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, A broken and a contrite heart These,
O God, You will not despise.

Micah 6:8. He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?

Notice it says "Walk" it doesn't say "Stand still" it doesn't say "now you are saved, you have repented,
you have my Spirit, now stand there and wait, no it says "WALK"

When you are walking under someone else's authority, you have their full backing and support.

1 Peter 5:6. Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,

Salvation is an ongoing thing, you disagree ? okay well the Hebrew and Greek words for salvation can
mean the following - deliverance, safety, preservation, healing, and soundness.

Below you will see some more Cross Roads

Lets look at some Scripture

In fact it can be summed up in one verse with the three tenses, past, present and future tense in
2 Corinthians 1:10

He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us,

Or as the King James puts it

Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver [us];

We see the past tense in Ephesians 2:8 "By grace have ye been saved through faith"

We see the present tense in

Philipians 2:12 speaks when it says: "Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling."

And we see the furture tense in Romans 5:9 (New International Version)

9 Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him!

If you want to do a further study on this then refer to

Past Tense - Romans 5:8 John 5:24 John 6:47 John 17:2 2 Corinthians 5:17 Romans 10:9-10 John 3:17

Present Tense - Romans 6:14 Galatians 2:19 2 Corinthians 3:18 Ephesians 2:8-9

Future Tense - Romans 5:9 8:24 13:11 1 Corinthians 5:5 Ephesians 1:13, 14; 1 Thessalonians 5:8 Hebrews 10:36 1 Peter 1:5-9 1 John 3:2

Acts 16:30-31 NIV He then brought them out and asked, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?" 31 They replied, "Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved--you and your household."

1 Corinthians 1:18 NIV For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God

Hebrews 1:14 NIV Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

Salvation draws into itself and encompasses justification, forgiveness, sanctification,
glorification and redemption and these are inner processes and workings of the Holy
Spirit And so you come to a Cross roads in your life, you may have come to one now or you may come
to one in the future, or the past

Its a change of direction in life or a chnage of direction in the heart, its a time in your life when you
know you have come to the end of a particular chapter, for everything there is a season and a purpose

Repentance is a Crossroads, but the kind of Crossroads we are talking of here is a life direction
change, a focus change, an attitude change,

Different Crossroads cross our paths at different stages in our life journeys

Some are changes in our lifestyles, occupation,

Some Cross Roads are of salvation, being saved as "A Christian" being saved from your own self,
as indeed you are a new creation but you are also a work in progress

You are being made into the person God wants you to be, you are being moulded and shaped,

You are saved but you are in the proceeds of being saved, you are filled with the Holy Spirit as a Christian,
but you can be filled with the Holy Spirit as a Christian

You can repent at salvation but you can repent as a Christian

Many Cross Roads , many many ...

In the same way worship is an onging thing, as is prayer an ongoing thing, as is our character being shaped to be more and more like Christ

Some changes of direction and Cross roads are started from the inside out and after the direction
heart change has occured then this is seen as a visible change on the outside

Heart changes affect the outward and become visible

Life changes in direction might affect the heart and how we do things

Repentance is a heart change , simply, turning around and walking the other way,

Once we turn we are saved from the consequences of the way we walked before

You might be reading this and you are not a Christian !

Well you can be saved too, you can repent too you can do those actions above and draw God to you

You can saY "Lord Jesus come to me " in doing that you are simply speaking back to God the very words
that He is saying to you, all the time, you are simply walking in His will, you are speaking back the very
words that He says to you

He says to everyone "Come to me " and what happens when you speak back to God the same words as He speaks to you ? your words and actions meet His !

As soon as you say those simple words "Lord Jesus come to me " you are repenting in a way or form

Because you are just turning around and turning to Him, in that instant and instance you are in fact
"repenting" "turning" its a change of heart, its not just that but putting that change of heart into action

And that my friend is what those actions where that we did earlier, putting your words into action

This indeed is what God does, He puts His words into action and the moment you repond to Him , He
reponds back to you

The wall that was formed is broken between you, you are saved, but you are being saved

You keep on turning to Him all the time, you keep on seeking HIm and in that process you are being moulded and shaped, being filled and restored, you are praying and worshipping Him , in fact prayer
and worhip can be silent, without words.

If indeed you are not a Christian or if indeed you are lets now put the words into action again and speak
back to Him the very words that He speaks to us

"Hold out your hands in front of you and simply raise them up to Him and say "Come Lord Jeus come,
Come to me, " and now draw down and pull down , as indeed He pulls us up and says to us

"Come to Me"

I leave you with a few thoughts

Is Salvation just for the unsaved ? and if you say "Salvation is a one time event then why do Christians
need to repent at times ? why do Christian at times need to "turn around "

Is worship just for Christians ? and the answer is no, worship is built into us as human beings, we all
worship something, so what happens at salvation and as we are being saved ? as we go on as Christians ?
Well our direction changes does'nt it ? we come to a Cross Roads and the direction of our worship

And continues to change, thus we are being saved, and continue in heart repentance before God in that

In deed we have seen in this message and study that the Christian life is an ongoing thing, its an ongoing salvation, its an ongoing Crossroads, its an ongoing repentance, ongoing worship , ongoing
walk, ongoing prayer, ongoing seeking, ongoing filling,

So lets now go too Psalms 85, 86 and 87

You can simply divide these three psalms up, the first is about restoration and salvation

The second about can be seen as prayer and forgiveness , worship and the third is about the "City Of God"

And we can act out these Psalms as in fact we have, in prayer, worship, being restored, repentance,
in basically turning to God and saying "Come to me" we make Him King, not just in the past but now and in the future

And we draw from Him our living God who is the King of the Kingdom

Lets finish by simply reading Psalm 85

And remeber that God is speaking to "His people" and His people are speaking back

Psalm 85 (New International Version)

For the director of music. Of the Sons of Korah. A psalm.

1 You, LORD, showed favor to your land;
you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
2 You forgave the iniquity of your people
and covered all their sins.
3 You set aside all your wrath
and turned from your fierce anger.

4 Restore us again, God our Savior,
and put away your displeasure toward us.
5 Will you be angry with us forever?
Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
6 Will you not revive us again,
that your people may rejoice in you?
7 Show us your unfailing love, LORD,
and grant us your salvation.

8 I will listen to what God the LORD says; he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants—but let them not turn to folly.
9 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him, that his glory may dwell in our land.

10 Love and faithfulness meet together; righteousness and peace kiss each other.
11 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth, and righteousness looks down from heaven.
12 The LORD will indeed give what is good, and our land will yield its harvest.
13 Righteousness goes before him and prepares the way for his steps.

Lord God in Jesus name save us and rescue us, thankyou that we are saved and will be saved in Jesus
name amen
