We are only shown the basics in Genesis and we are not told about the how and what and why
but we are shown the "Whom"
We are shown the relational insight and the Maker
And that is the rest is left to our imagination
Why ? because God wants us to concentrate on Him and to focus on the
wonder of who He is
To much information about how and why and there would never ne enough books or volumes
produced to hold the information neither would God want us to have too much information
knowledge as a little knowledge in the wrong hands at the wrong time can
be a dangerous thing
And so we are simply told the basics of creation and the relational
insight and even then it is only focused on small amounts of time and
very little is really given to us
And so we stand at the Eve of knowledge
Each day of creation can be seen as a literal day or a figurative day
I myself believe the days in Genesis to be much much longer than a
thousand years, which would then make sense with the scientists views
of "how old the earth is"
Neither do I see the day that the Lord has made which is the day of
all days , the day of rest, as a literal day
But that is my view and my belief
The hebrew word for day is "yowm" or "Yom"
There are two uses of the word, as a literal day, or as a figurative day
We also see this demonstrated in such scriptures as
"For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday"
when it is past, and as a watch in the night."
2 Peter 3:8
that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years,
and a thousand years as one day
Neither does this mean that a day is always a "thousand years"
But rather it can mean that in God there is no time and a day can
be in "His Time"
Whether it be a thousand years in a day of the Lord or a million years
A day can simply be symbolic of a period of time in "The Lord"
Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, as was said before: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts."
Psalm 95:7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the flock under his care. Today, if you hear his voice,
Hebrews 3:7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice,
Hebrews 3:15 As has just been said: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion."
Lets quote some notes so that people do not think its just some weird guy called Guardian or Gatekeeper that has some kind of weird theology going on and is leading some kind of cult
Barnes' Notes on the Bible
A certain day - A particular time; he mentions today particularly. That is, in the time of David, he uses the word "today," as if time was "then" an offer of rest, and as if it were then possible to enter into it.
Clarke's Commentary on the Bible
He limiteth a certain day - The term day signifies not only time in general, but also present time, and a particular space. Day here seems to have the same meaning as rest in some other parts of this verse
And so today You or I can Rest in Him in a day
TODAY IF YOU HEAR HIS VOICE,,,... that can be seen as the time in your life when you hear His voice, whether it be over a span of a week or 90 years of your life, so whatever that time span is....it is for you and me to listen, hear and respond "TODAY , If you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts"
TODAY , "yowm" today you can enter His rest
In His time and in His way
