THE HIDDEN BIBLE - Psalm 105, Study 8

THE HIDDEN BIBLE - Psalm 105, Study 8

Matthew 13:13-15: “’For this reason I speak to them in parables: Although they see they do not see, and although they hear they do not hear nor do they understand.

Now notice firstly where this scripture comes from, it comes from the "parable of the sower"

And we find this in
Matthew 13:1-9

And In
Matthew 13:14-15
we find a referal back to the book of
Isaiah 6:8-10

And inbetween we have the disciples asking the question

10 The disciples came to him and asked, “Why do you speak to the people in parables?”

Now after this we have the parable of the "weeds" and it is no mistake why the parable of the weeds comes afterwards

So what is this all about then ?

Well imagine if Im speaking to my wife and I do not want my children to know what I am talking about ! now the favourite one is too spell out the words or to use other related words

The message that Jesus was giving was meant for His disciples

this is not saying that "others" were not allowed into the "Kingdom" but that" others were not meant to hear and would not understand

Remember that here we have the parable of the sower and the seed

Now The Lord could have said simply "Well you won't listen even if it is before your very eyes"

Luke 16:31

Gills exposition states

Because it was the will and pleasure of his Father to give the knowledge of divine mysteries to some, and not to others; and because even the outward good things they had, being wrongly used or abused by them, would be taken away from them:

You see even though the seed may be sown it would be taken away again by the birds of the air

And so we have a simplistic picture of "The Sower" sowing the Word into the heart and what can happen after the person receives the Word

This is why Isaiah proclaims

9 He said, “Go and tell this people: “‘Be ever hearing, but never understanding; be ever seeing, but never perceiving.’

Yes A child can understand a parable quite easily, its a picture and image

In fact anyone can understand a parable and thats the point you see

Lets take one example

Person A believes in "the resurrection of the dead"

Person B believes in "the resurrection of the dead"

Person A :lives in the resurrection power and knows of the reality

Person B : believes in "the resurrection of the dead"

In other Words I might know of the parable of the sower and the seed about some guy who
is a farmer and who scatters seed and its an old story in the bible

Compared to someone who believes with all his heart and lives it eben though a parable may seem
foolish to live in the eyes of "the World"

In other words : Person A: Might receive and abuse and misuse

Person B : might receive , believe and use

So its not so much the receiving but how it is used also

In this there is the giving of more or the taking away Matthew 13:12

Barnes Notes

It means that a man who improves what light, grace, and opportunities he has, shall have them increased. From him that improves them not, it is proper that they should be taken away.

Looking into this as you go through the study, and had me thinking of:

John 15

The Vine and the Branches

1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. 7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

Seems to me the key is in remaining in Jesus. To leave is to die, to stay is to live.

All fruit produces seeds otherwise it wouldnt be classed a fruit, its a requirement.

So to remain in Him as He is in you, then that means action. Not just Jesus remaining in you, but you making an effort to remain in Jesus.

So to remain in Jesus in relation to seeds/fruit, would be to actively be looking at the fruits of the Holy Spirit and keeping up with our spiritual habits.

This isnt about self efforted works trying to get us into heaven, its about making a conscious and heart decision to turn to Jesus and yes if Jesus remains in you, then sometimes instead of 'looking to the heavens' looking to within yourself.

Rambling thoughts out loud here. I have more picked up on you discussing the seeds than the parable side of things i think
On the heavenly staircase!

Colossians 2
1FOR I want you to know how great is my solicitude for you [how severe an inward struggle I am engaged in for you] and for those [believers] at Laodicea, and for all who [a]like yourselves] have never seen my face and known me personally.
2[For my concern is] that their hearts may be [b]braced (comforted, cheered, and encouraged) as they are knit together in love, that they may come to have all the abounding wealth and blessings of assured conviction of understanding, and that they may become progressively [c]more intimately acquainted with and may know more definitely and accurately and thoroughly that mystic secret of God, [which is] Christ (the Anointed One).

3In Him all the treasures of [divine] wisdom ([d]comprehensive insight into the ways and purposes of God) and [all the riches of spiritual] knowledge and enlightenment are stored up and lie hidden.

4I say this in order that no one may mislead and delude you by plausible and persuasive and attractive arguments and beguiling speech.

5For though I am away from you in body, yet I am with you in spirit, delighted at the sight of your [standing shoulder to shoulder in such] orderly array and the firmness and the solid front and steadfastness of your faith in Christ [that [e]leaning of the entire human personality on Him in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness].

6As you have therefore received Christ, [even] Jesus the Lord, [so] walk (regulate your lives and conduct yourselves) in union with and conformity to Him.

7Have the roots [of your being] firmly and deeply planted [in Him, fixed and founded in Him], being continually built up in Him, becoming increasingly more confirmed and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and abounding and overflowing in it with thanksgiving.

Yes the hidden Roots and the Vine

Matthew 13:11 He replied, “The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has
been given to you, but not to them.

And so Jesus was speaking in parables to the crowd and whoever had ears to hear would hear

The the disciples asked "why speak in parables ? "

Now don't forget the disciples were sent out to preach the gospel and would have seen
some who listened but just did'nt seem to respond and more whom may have responded to
the message but then fell away after a while

We looked at this a while ago In The Heart Of Repentance - STUDY HERE

Also at this time the Pharisees would have been watching and listening as always

They would have understood the simple pictures but quite how they could use them to
their advantage ?

How would they gain from these lessons ? how would they benefit ?

Here we have a man called Jesus who says He is the Son of God ? what blasphemy !

Not only that but He comes out with this new teaching !

This is not found in the Torah ?

And so here the pharisees...this political party and school of thought who had a
following amongst the common people suddenly had their following diminish and their pride
dented as Jesus the Son of God began to pull the crowds and teach an new thing

Here we see the pharisees as they listen to Jesus's teachings to the people and plot
to "get rid of Jesus"

This political party that believed in the resurrection of the dead and no doubt had a
certain faith and relationship with God

Acts 23:8 (The Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, and that there are neither
angels nor spirits, but the Pharisees believe all these things.)

Well we know what the Lord thought of these people called the pharisees

And once more we see that believing is not enough

This party that knew the Word Of God and claimed to follow and be followed

Beware the Yeast of the pharisees

No sooner had the seed been sown into the heart of such than the seed would neither take root
nor yield a crop but be taken away by the beak of the enemy

If you say that believing and having faith is enough then the Kingdom of God would be open to such as the pharisees

As it was the pharisees could neither see nor understand this new message and why ? because how "ON EARTH" could they live the Word ?

By living the Word so too you have the fruit, and by their fruits you shall know them

James 1:22 22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says

What happens when we do what the Word says ?

It may well go unnoticed !

In fact much of the Work fo the Kingdom may be "Unseen"

Much of what God does is shown through testimony and this is great to give glory to God

But much more is unseen and goes along as if "hidden"

The work done in a persons heart is "hidden" sometimes except through testimony much of the work of the Lord thorugh someone goes along being "hidden"

So too the Word of the Lord can be hidden in ...being known but not "known in not understood and never comprehended

But along with this work comes the "the aroma"

Along with this work comes the "Fruit"

Isaiah 6:8–10

8 And I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for
us?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” 9 And he said, “Go, and say to this people:

“ ‘Keep on hearing,3 but do not understand; keep on seeing,4 but do not perceive.’

10 eMake the heart of this people dull,5 and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes;

lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts,

and turn and be healed.”
