The Soot Of Sin - Psalm 104, Part 1

Psalm 104 :1-4

Now its good that we began ass we did as this all ties in and this is how God can speak

Not always directly to us but through others,

Yes the same God, the Same Spirit, the Same Lord

Speaking through many at the same time

And here we begin in Psalm 104 with many images and very much in keeping with the book of Job we see illustrations of imagery and pictures that the mind can only wonder over

So far we have looked in Psalm 102 at the story of an unknown author, this is the "Unknown author"

And we saw how this man was very much in distress and agony of soul

In Psalm 103 we viewed a brief glimpse at another man called "Jacob" this man could have had any lets call him or her "The Unknown Author"

The "Unkown person"

Alhtough known to God , they may remain unknown to others

And we read the story of an "unknown person" in distress who "held onto things "

Here we see the unknown person at the bottom of the rung,a person who is in ashes and smoke

Literally put on sack clothe and ashes

But this person can be transformed , he can pout on the oil of joy for ashes

He or she can dance as God dances over him or her,

But we also saw that God takes that persons sins and casts them as far as the east is from the west

Now in Psalm 104 we go on to another level, we look further than this mans life,. we look furthe r than this mans circumstances and situations..........

And we look to the only one who can pull him or her out of the situation

You know I often wonder how Job had all restored back to him and more and briefly I've illustrated how a person can have more back in the Psalm 103 study, because although a person can loose much , we noted that the inner working is far more valuable than the outer appearance of a person

This is why we do not judge a person, because we never know what God is doing in that persons (unknown authors) life

And so here in Psalm 104 we go onto another level as we look at "Anointing"

You know theres no value in getting a gift without firstly recognising why it is given

Someone once said "the person with anointing may suffer"

We looked in earlier psalms at this..............

And we know that although "the price is paid" we also know "we must count the cost"

And now we look into "the Holy Spirit" and "Anointing" - "the Water of Life" - "Joy - Joy- Joy"

But firstly we who come as slaves...with dirty faces...with sin and dirt, with that black soot of sin.............

Come before God and we who after a time of suffering and maybe not even knowing why we been through what we have been through and not having the knowledge of why we have had to endure through such things ....

Come to God and we are washed clean by the blood of the Lamb

You know we always go back to the beginning ?

We always start at the start ?

We always go back to Jesus, for all things begin with Him

Please do not tell me that when we go through suffering and trials that it may be because we have sinned and please do not suggest to me that a Christian cannot sin either

You know the story of David where he himself had an adulterous relationship and as a result of this there were conscequences !!

Job mmay not have sinned , he may not have done anything, this may have been simply a trial ...a test

we are not always to know the "why's " and the "whats"

We are simply to go through these things

And David himself sooted and stained by the sin he had committed came to God "TAKE NOT YOUR HOLY SPIRIT FROM ME, RESTORE UNTO ME THE JOY OF MY SALVATION"

And so this is where we are at now, looking at the aftermath and we are going on as God always moves on and we are going to be examining Psalm 104

Who knows what it will bring,

But lets see this person who went through so much suffering and endured come to salvation

Because we know that although we are saved ...we are being saved and will be saved and those who endure to the end will be saved

they will dance on the rooftops and sing to God

God takes us from the bottom rung as we see ourselves and puts us on the top rung with Jesus

And as we rub off on others so too others will have that dust of Gods prescence on them

Lets follow the Rabbi and have the dust of the Rabbi on us

And so We know that Jesus suffered althougb He was "Sinles"

We can or may suffer much for our Saviour

Jesus looks at us and see's a reflection, God looks at us and see's His Son,

We can look at ourselves and see nowt but that soot

What we go through may or may not be as a result of something that we have done

I am seated in heavenly places in "Christ" YES I AM

But I am here on earth and God is in heaven although He is in me and I in Him

I am "Sinless" as far as Jesus has washed me clean from all that soot and I am clothed in garments of white as white as the snow on the salt of the earthen ground

I may know of a sin and repent of it, and in that I walk away from it, and so as far as the east is from the west Jesus has removed that sin , BUT I need myself to remove myself from it !!

Does that make sense ?

I may sin and God may tell me, "YOU ARE ALREADY FORGIVEN"

I may sin and knowing and having the knowldege of that sin I come before God

Now that might mean that it makes me feel better !! does that make sense ?

To have the knowledge of a sin but not to come to God can create a barrier between you and Godf even though God has forgiven you BECAUSE YOU MAY STILL HOLD ONTO IT .......(get it ? )

How many times have I had communion and had to put things right with myself or with a brother first !!

Why would I do that ? could it be a disagreement ? could that in itself be a sin ?

Why do I feel like I do ? surely I am already forgiven ? why is there then this barrier ?

Why then am I repenting ? if indeed I cannot sin ?

Why then am I putting things right with my Christian bro ?

Could there be a barrier ?

ooo what barrier might that be then ?

You se although we are saved ...we are veing saved...... and will be

Although I am in heavenly places now............I am I ?

Im here typing

Never look back and think

well Im baptised (tick) saved (tick) I am a member of a Church (tick) I pray (tick)

Woo thats it , Ive made it

James 2 :14-22

14What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith
save him? 15Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16If one of you says
to him, “Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about his physical
needs, what good is it? 17In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action,
is dead.

18But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”

Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. 19You believe
that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.

20You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is uselessd? 21Was not our
ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the
altar? 22You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made
complete by what he did. 23And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God,
and it was credited to him as righteousness,”e and he was called God’s friend. 24You see that
a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.

25In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did
when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26As the body
without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

This relationship is ongoing ....I SAY AGAIN "THIS RELATIONSHIP IS ONGOING"

Matthew 25:35

For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in,

oops does that mean I have to act ?

Matthew 25:42

For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat.....................

So we act when God tells us too,........

And o we see that faith wihtout works/deeds/action can be "dead" or you could say "death"
This is where we listen and look up to people who show us by their "actions"
Words have power but words and actions work together
And so when we know of soemthing that is wrong and the Holy Spirit shows us , what do we do ?

We walk away other words we "repent"

We act on it, we do as it says...

An David walked away from the ashes of the consequences of his own actions

Job walked away from an attack that was to be an enduring mark that went on into eternity

Repentance, sin, see how therse are linked...they work together

O what a mess....o what a mess, o what a mess

Who will clean up the spilt drink ?
