The Will of A Nation - Psalm 106, Study 14

The Will of A Nation - Psalm 106, Study 14

Now I'm going to put three lessons in one here

Psalm 106:15 And we shall call this the " lesson of Temporal Craving "

Psalm 106:16 And this "The Rebellion"

Psalm 106:19 "And the "temporal Idol"

For the sake of giving names and for reference

And we shall flash back to
Exodus 19:6

Because this is where God speaks to Moses and says :"you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words you are to
speak to the Israelites."

This is at Mount Sinia and this is when the people encamped at the foot of the mountian as Moses walks "the hill of the Lord" and God calls out from the mountain that is the "Mount of Sinia"

And we focus on the "Group" the "nation" "the nations" or "a gathering of people"

Instead of applying this to me or an individual we apply it too a "Nation"

Odviously we can still apply this to individuals as in "myself" or "ourself"

You probably think I already have a three point lesson already to type

But I've only just found out what its going to be about

1 Corinthians 10:11

11 These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us,
on whom the culmination of the ages has come

Now I want to focus on

Deuteronomy 17:15 be sure to appoint over you the king the Lord your God chooses

Does that mean that there are Kings that the Lord does not choose ?

You know so many things can invade a people , a nation , a person.

It can work through a nation like yeast and permeate through the whole dough Matthew 16:6

These things can sound good and seem good and fulfill tempoary needs and gains but have no
eternal value

In fact they can "reverse" like the turning of a table

Link to - Trading My Sorrows, Psalm 104 - Part two

the " lesson of Temporal Craving "

These temporal cravings can manifest through a society

Now people may say "Ooo this is all old hat, old teaching, none of this applies to us"

Well we see it all the time even now in our "modern society"

Even now today when you turn on the TV or any media

It comes through on the power of advertising and mass media

a: Body beautiful, the ideal body, anti aging,

Even reaching the "Christian nation" ( 1 Peter 2:9 ) that separated nation, thats sojourns

The separated nation that is far from home and walking in their "free will in Gods Will"
walking the path made ready and prepared for us , as God walks ahead "The Steering wheel
of our lifes"

The aliens, resurrected to be another nation within a nation, with a King and yet having Only
One King who is Jesus

Link To - Alien Resurrection - Psalm 105, Study 9

OOooo the body beautiful where we can all be like "That person"

And then we of the Alien nation compare this with scripture deceiving ourselves

And we draw from
1 Corinthians 6:19-20

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

And we apply this to our self willed mortal body forgetting
the eternal things and concentrating on the temporal

Why O why did'nt Paul in his journeys think of this ? why get beaten and whipped and imprisoned
when he could have "looked after his body" ? with spray and oil and Anti-Plaque Toothpaste !

Or should I say "plague instead of plaque !"

ooo you say what things might be eternal then ? well heres a few beauty products that have
eternal value

Be regenerated John 3:3-5, Be anointed 1 John 2:27, Be baptized Acts 2:17-41,

Be empowered Micah 3:8, Be Sanctified Romans 15:16, Be comforted John 14:16-26,

Be Joyful Romans 14:17, Be Discerning 1 Corinthians 2:10:16, Bear fruit Galatians 5:22-23,
Be gifted 1 Corinthians 12:3-11,

Now these are things that come free, yet they might come at a cost !

But remember ( Deuteronomy 17:15 Be sure to appoint over you the king the Lord your God

"Oooo well God wants me to look good ?"

Well have I asked the Lord what He might choose ?

b: Fame : is another false occupation of temporal value with no lasting effect

To be famous: to have popularity, to be accepted and wanted.....

What a plague or curse that sweeps through the nation that people should seek fame

Yet Fame can turn around on me and become an obstacle/plague/curse

How lonely to live an image

How difficult to live like a "normal" person"

What an illusion to think that "fame" might fill that gap within my heart

When it can actually do the opposite and alienate me from society

All that people see is an "image" of what they think I am ,

Yet I am only known by my closest friends (if I have any)

What a craving to seek and crave for "The False Image"

While the real answer lies just a short distance away from me

And while others worship the false image, "I can look up to where my help comes from"

Psalm 121:2 My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.

Reference : Psalm 106:19 "And the "temporal Idol"

Well you see....this can carry over and cross over with me as I walk the faithwalk on my journey
to the promised land

This can carry over and cross over with me as I walk my Christian walk and I can make idols
of worship groups or scholars or healers or preachers, or ministers

WOoooo famous Christiansssssssssssss "I wish I could be like them - what an image they

Deuteronomy 17:15 be sure to appoint over you the king the Lord your God chooses

Remember this study is pivoted at the foot of mount sinia at the main scripture which is

Exodus 19:6

Because this is where God speaks to Moses and says :"you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.'
and the other two cravings are revolving around this one thing where the people worship the Golden Calf

Tbis was said at Mount Sinia as the people worshipped the Golden calf Psalm 106:19

The hebrew people lived in Egypt for 400 years and observed the worhip of the egyptians and the bull amongst other false gods, and while waiting for forty days and forty nights for Moses to come down from the mountain they had to have an image (bull)to worship as a representation of God

What a costly thing to have free will

be sure to appoint over you the king the Lord your God chooses

Who is Lord of my life ? is it the temporal craving ? is it the false image ? or is it the seeking to "BE the false image ? "!

This is what we move onto next

Todays bible gateway verse - 01-01-2012

Deuteronomy 6:4-5

“Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one. Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength.”

To have power and wealth, to be seen as "successful " to be seen as "blessed"

To have an "image" of status and grandeur

To even collaborate with others of the same for the benefit of the world

To be gods unto the world and to be seen as peacemakers unto men

To intervene in the affairs of men that the world might be a better place

Mmm what a summit of the nations , as they come together in great might and power

This reminds me of "the last days " which we are now in and have been for thousands
of years

But what if someone else enters onto the scene ? what if someone else takes the popularity
contest ?

THE HIDDEN BIBLE - Psalm 105, Study 8 - refer to politics

This reminds me of the scripture

Psalm 2:1 Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain?

That psalm was written when David captured Jerusalem from the Jebusites, in 2 Samuel 5:7-9.

How mankind craves for temporal power and wealth, the entire world seems to revolve around
money and money seems to create power

No longer revolving around the "image" of morals or values as to show an outward
appearance of

But revolving around an empire of "Consumerism" and "materialism"

Short term, short sightedness which needs the spec saver touch

This "Consumerism" and "materialism" driven society will only continue short term and it
has no long term value , let alone "eternal value"

One slight "Act of God" and the entire empire could collapse

To have the image of power and wealth, What a false image to follow

And we see Jesus the Son of God

2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.

This is not the richness that the world seeks but rather the richness that has eternal value

Money and power on this earth is merely "temporal" but eternal riches have lasting value
Philippians 3:7-8

Psalm 106:16 And this "The Rebellion"

We see that these things where the nations conspire have happened already in
Psalm 2:1

Yet they are happening and yet they will happen

Acts 4:27

Indeed Herod and Pontius Pilate met together with the Gentiles and the people of Israel in this
city to conspire against your holy servant Jesus, whom you anointed

Barnes' Notes on the Bible

The psalmist here sees the nations in violent agitation or commotion, as if under high
excitement, engaged in accomplishing some purpose - rushing on to secure something, or
to prevent something.

And so we turn too wanting to be in the place of those that are appointed and anointed of God
as in Psalm 106:16 And this "The Rebellion"

This refers to Numbers 16:1-3 Here Korah rises up against Moses and seeks to take his place

3They came as a group to oppose Moses and Aaron and said to them, “You have gone too far!
The whole community is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is with them. Why then do you
set yourselves above the Lord’s assembly?”

You see the human heart does not change over the centuries, it may poject a different "image"
but the heart of mankind remains the same

Deuteronomy 17:15 be sure to appoint over you the king the Lord your God chooses

Who is Lord of my life ? is it the temporal craving ? is it the false image ? or is it the seeking to
"BE [ A ] false image ? "!

As if I can take the place of those the Lord has placed
