The Will Of Obedience,Psalm 106,Study 18

The Will Of Obedience,Psalm 106,Study 18,

OO I fell alseep in a car park zzz

I woke up to this verse

Matthew 5:13

"You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men

I wonder how many lifes have been saved by salt being trodden under foot ?

That salt on the pavement and roads that is no good for the table but used for roads
and paths

That salt of the earth covered in garments of snow

I wonder how many lifes have been saved through the past lessons in Gods Word ?

Those lessons that seem so harsh and cold yet save us from slipping !

Those lifes that have been lost in the past being lessons to us and warnings to avoid

Those signals and signs that say "STOP"

That salt of the earth that lost its flavour and was trodden under foot no more good
for the mouth or for the body to savor but only used to be trodden under foot that
others in the future might be saved from going down the same path or the same road

Even that salt that has lost its savor has a purpose in Gods plan

That salt being the people of God who in past times have lost their way and fallen
and serve now as a reminder to us

Romans 12:2

Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will
is--his good, pleasing and perfect will.

How I can loose my savor when I conform to others and do as they do

What difference is there between me and them when I do that ?

2 Corinthians 6:14

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness
have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

Why do I worship what they worship ? and do as they do ?

Is that not the way I lived before ?

Should I not get alongside them and be to them the Light ?

1 Corinthians 9:19-23

Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to
win as many as possible. 20 To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those
under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law)
, so as to win those under the law. 21 To those not having the law I became like one
not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law),
so as to win those not having the law. 22 To the weak I became weak, to win the weak.
I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save
some. 23 I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.

If I conform I could loose my savor and be the same as the ones I am walking with therefore leaning towards the same warning sign and lessons of the hebrew people who sought temporal things

And what good am I if I loose my savor, I am nothing but salt to be trodden underfoot to stop others slipping and to serve as a warning to others

Therefore I must be tranformed by the renewing of my mind to walk alongside those that are needy that I , rather than doing as they do can be the Light to them in a dark place

Luke 10:30–37

And so I am to leap through boundaries of group/race/colour/leaning/religion/
denomination putting those things aside and looking to the goal

Breaking down the walls between these things as Jesus did and as Paul copied

I transform to transform but I do not conform to their ways

In this transforming of my mind my actions and attitudes change

This is not just done by The Holy Spirit alone but needs my input to read and to seek
to learn Gods Word and in doing this THEN the Holy Spirit can speak and renew me
through that which I have taken in

Going from my mind to my heart once it is lived in my life

And in this I can become a "Doer of The Word "

James 1:22

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.

That outworking in my heart and life can be energised by the Holy Spirit of God

And as I begin to "work out my salvation"

Philippians 2:12

Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but
now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and

So The Holy Spirit works in me and through me

This is a "Joint" venture

As I go on my journey through the notorious Jerusalem to Jericho road in the samaritan story which winds and
bends through country that is fit for an ambush

I may meet others who may not be of the same religion or path/denomination

And others may try to ambush my life and faith

But I am to be "transfomed by the renewing of my mind" and not be conformed or conform
to their belief but lead them towards Jesus

I look to the greatest commandment

Deuteronomy 6:5

He answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your
soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind and your
neighbour as yourself Leviticus 19:18

In this Jesus showed by example in

The Ten lepers

Luke 17:11-19

Walking through walls and wills to heal the samaritan who then came back to thank him

TRANSFORMERS, Psalm 105 Study 4,Refer to (THE UNCLEAN)

Samaritans were hated by the Jews

Concerning Priests and Levites

To the Priests and Levite contact with a dead body would defile them and make
them unclean

This is why the Priest and The Levite walked past the fallen man by the wayside

Nonetheless the certain samaritan who remains "unamed" picks him up and saves him

Luke 10:30-37

36 “Which of these three do you think was a neighbor to the man who fell into the
hands of robbers?” 37 The expert in the law replied, “The one who had mercy on him.”

Jesus told him, “Go and do likewise.” James 1:22 Deuteronomy 6:5

Incidently the preach this very morning was about the "certain samaritan"

So we have looked at "do not conform but be transformed"

And we saw how a persons life was transformed (The Certain Samaritan) by a certain person
that could have been You or Me

That certain person having been transformed by the Living Word

And so we come to Psalm 106:28 which is a reflection of Numbers 25:2

Where the Chosen Ones of God defiled themselves and committed whoredom - adultery
with demons

It was not so much the "Images" and Idols they worshipped but the spirits that hid behind
these things that were worshipped, in worshipping these idols they were prostituting themselves

Being married to one Husband who was God

The People Of God Conformed to the practices of the other nations around them

As a person can conform to anothers ways and customs and in so doing loose their savor

2 Corinthians 6:14

Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have
in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

Gill's Exposition

To this idol the Israelites joined or "yoked" themselves, as the word (u) signifies: they withdrew
themselves from the yoke of the true God, whose yoke is easy, and put their necks under the
yoke of an idol; which was to be unequally yoked: or they were tempted unto it; they
committed spiritual whoredom with it, which is idolatry; they left their first and lawful
husband, to whom they were married, and joined themselves to an idol, and cleaved to it.

The god Baal being worshipped here comes under many names and means "Lord or Master"

Here the Bride committed adultery of the worst kind and "God gave her "over"

Ephesians 5:22

Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.

With these sins of the virgin nation came disease and many thousands died

Psalm 106:37

They sacrificed their sons and their daughters to demons.

Ezekiel 16:20 2 Kings 16:3 Zechariah 20:26 Isaiah 57:5

They sent their very sons and daughters through the fire to Moloch or Milcom in this was the
Canaanite worship to sacrifice children, therefore being offerings to demons, not to God,

1 Corinthians 10:20 Galatians 4:8

Psalm 106:39

They defiled themselves by what they did; by their deeds they prostituted themselves.

Psalm 106:41

He handed them over to the nations, and their foes ruled over them.

The sin of man does not change through the centuries and the same applies to mankind today

Romans 1:24-28 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women
exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones.

Psalm 106:41 He gave them into the hands of the nations, and their foes ruled over them.
42 Their enemies oppressed them and subjected them to their power.

And so the Nation under God were given over to other nations and the sin of the people ruled over them, their sin became their ruler and the authority over them

Gill's Exposition

And he gave them into the hand of the Heathen,.... In the times of the judges; as into the hands of the Mesopotamians, Moabites, Canaanites, Midianites, and Philistines, to whom they became tributaries; see the book of Judges.

The hebrew nations relationship with their new "Lord And Master" (see above - refer to - Submit to
God ) became their Lord and Master

As so often when the tempted succumbs to sin, the sin has the authority in that area until I repent and Jesus once more becomes the "Master and Lord"

The salt of the nation Of God had lost its savor and was trodden under foot by other Lords

This was the "The Will Of Obedience"
