Thoughts, Words, Action
Thoughts, Words, Action (Photo credit: Gui Trento)

“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” (Ephesians 4:29

Matthew 15:8 New International Version

"'These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

Isaiah 29:13 The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their
mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me.

With The Sun shining in its radiance you cannot go too near, being consumed in its heat and radiating
force you would not live

Shining out far reaching into the expanse of space and the universe, the unseen gammar rays of the sun
reach out through the darkness of space and time

Imagine God in His glory , His glory fills the heavens, His revelation Light shines out

Imagine if you can the Glory of God in His brilliance and Majesty

You cannot go to near else you would be consumed and you would not live

Imagine if you can Gods glory in the heavens, that is the heaven where God is

Imagine this light being a light of revelation revealing all things and bringing all things into the light,

Gods majesty and glory radiating out all around the heaven where He is and has His being

The Cherubim and Seraphim and Arch Angels and all that dwell in Heaven around the Throne of God
falling down to worship and give glory and honour and praise

Being in the prescence of God all bow the knee because nothing else can be done in the prescence of
the all knowing all powerful God where no human body can survive and where even the angelic beings that
move around the Throne cannot do anything else but praise and worship

Imagine the ever changing , ever moving heaven where God is, as thunderclaps and echoes and sounds
unheard by human ear re occur time and time again from the Throne of God as God the all powerful
one throws out miracle upon miracle and change upon change

Imagine claps of thunder and sounds the ear has never heard !

Imagine all the activity as the legions of angels and heavenly beings , thousands upon thousands who
praise God who is and was and is too come !

Imagine the awesome power of the God who created the universe and the vast expanse of time and space
with a single breathe, imagine for one moment the Holy God who would be so terrifying to see
that people would call for the mountains to fall on them Isaiah 2:10:22 Rev. 6:12-17

Imagine the sight of the God of a multitude of names that are unnumbered and yet He has one name
"I AM" and He cannot be anything else but who He is, He is who He is and He is what He says

He cannot be anything else but the Word and what He speaks is what He is and what He speaks is who
He is and what He speaks is what He does because He is Who He is and does what He says for He is
the word revealed to man,

The living word that cannot lie , because its His nature to speak forth who
He is and His nature cannot change, His Character is God and God is

Lord Father of many names and of a multitude of children as numerous as the stars in the sky that
you created and as many as the sands on the beach that you numbered

We read about your glory and we seek to draw near to you, to enter into your prescence and to talk
to you face to face

Lord forgive us and cleanse us and fill us with your Holy Spirit, we commit our lifes and hearts
to you today in Jesus name amen

And so we read about the unapproachable God who lives in unaproachable light 1 Timothy 6:16

Who is approachable as we enter through the veil and with sit with Him in heavenly places

Hebrews 4:16 Ephesians 2:6 Hebrews 10:19

Now Im going to speak as a new believer, from the eyes of a new believer, so if you wonder where
I am coming from , remember that I am going back in time

There seems to be a barrier here at times.... I remember struggling with this one as a young born again believer, I remember believing the words of God and walking in faith and knowing that this walk was about relationship

But at the same time struggling with the knowledge and knowing that this God whom I gave my life too was distant at times and reading about such a great God and reading and knowing a God who was so Holy and righteous and unapproachable and so majestic and as described above it
seemed at times quite a gap between knowing God and who God was and my own life

It seemed the more I read Gods word the more I saw quite a difference between my life and Gods

Here was this great God who was so Powerful and Majestic and Holy and here was little old me
in my day to day life struggling with little things like "will I loose my job ? " and "what if this happens?
and what if that happens ? "

"Will I get up for Church on sunday ? " will I be able to do such and such ? "

Here I was looking at my day to day mundane life and here was this Majestic God who at times
seemed so aloof and separate. especially when I prayed and did'nt seem to get an answer !!

And I remember after a while I began to lead bible studies in the flat where I lived at that time
and at the same time I was still carrying some habits along with me, the old baggage and luggage that
all of us carry with us from that world we came from before we entered into the journey with the

That old luggage and baggage that I would never get through the eye of a needle

That old luggage of habits and rituals and past friendships that we I had with "Egypt"

I still smoked at that time and I still had the old thoughts at times , but hey I was a new Christian,
I was on my new journey , my new life, God was still working in me and He is still doing today

He was working from the inside out and people only saw the outside external me

There and now He was and is still working in my character to make me more and more like Himself

One young guy ( A more mature Christian) had a habit of saying " Your a hypocrite"

This caused me to question and ask myself why there was such a huge gap between my life and
the word !

Here I was speaking out the word, reading the word, doing these weekly bible study meetings,
(even though I really did'nt know much about God or His word but had been called to do this at this
time) you know the best training is to do that which you can't do ? then He can do it

And so there was this kind of gap ! now Im sure I am not the only person who has experienced this
unless of cause you are perfect as God is perfect then there would'nt be a gap between you and God
and I would like to meet you ( although you would be with the Lord already)

So one day this guy walked past me some weeks later and saw me smoking and again said
" Hypocrite"

Well in my understanding at that time all and evreyone one of us were hypocrites because none of us
could ever live up to the word of God in every detail 100 per cent of the time

And neither are we called to do so, we are called to follow Him and do as He says, whatever that might be
at that time

And so I struggled for some time over this issue where my life seemed far apart from the word and
the words I read and the God I read about in the bible

At the same time I knew God speaking to me and working in my life from the inside out

I wondered where the two paths met ? I wondered where actions and words met ?

I wondered where and when my life would be a reflection and when what I did reflected what I said

How to be a successful Christian - the Key to success

I saw books on "keys to successful living" I saw lots of keys and doors and ways

I saw TV prgrammes on "how to be a healthy Christian" eat the right foods, our bodies are the
Temple of the Holy Spirit and we should look after them

I could'nt help but think this is a detour, a kind of way around , a key , a door , that takes us away
from true worship and leads us into a kind of "self worship"

When we are so fixated on eating right and keeping to a diet and staying healthy and looking after
our bodies and keeping fit with exercising and daily rituals and routines that we actually have our eyes
taken off the true path

When I saw the hungry and starving and the women sex trade and the children dying of aids and the
millions in poverty all over the world, do you know that 80% of the world lives in poverty ?

80% of the world lives on less than $10.00 a day !!

Did you know that the poorest 40 percent of the world’s population accounts for 5 percent of global
income and the richest 20 percent accounts for three-quarters of world income ?

UNICEF states that 24,000 children die each day due to poverty. !

28 per cent of the worlds children are underweight and stunted

Did you know that nealry a billion , yes a billion people in the wrold are unable to read a book
or sign their signature ! that is if they had a pencil or a pen

40 million people are lioving and dying with HIV / AIDS

There are approximately 400 million cases of malaria every year

With these things in mind we can occupy ourselves with whether we should eat that bar of chocolate
or whether we should go to the gym or health centre or stay at home and watch tv while we eat
another biscuit

There is a war going on in the world , there always has been, this is nothing new, it has been going
on for centuries, we only know now because we have so much communication and fast messages
coming back and forth from around the world

But these things have always been, they were there when Jesus walked on the erath, these things went
on before Jesus came and they have carried on and will carry on until Jesus returns

Until the end comes and God rolls up existence human life knows it

These things are written about in Gods word

Where do words and Actions Meet ?

Have you ever met a person who walks the walk and talks the talk ?

If you ever meet someone who speaks by what they do or does things and then repeats what they
have done by words !

Have you ever met a Christian who walks the walk and talks the talk ?

Then follow that person, let them be your role model , let that person guide you, watch them and
learn from them, follow them like the students followed their Rabbi in the Jewish culture

Follow that person by watching and learning and doing as they do, there is much to learn from a
person like this

This is what the disciples did as they followed Jesus, they were the students and He was the Rabbi

Jesus did as He spoke and spoke what He did and spoke out what His actions showed and displayed

This is what the disciples did as many followed them and the disciples demonstrated their love
for God to others and lived out the living word and many followed on

The more you seek the one above all who is Jesus , the more you read the word and saturate yourself
in Gods word, the more you rub off against Jesus , the more you follow Him, the more you learn
about God , the more you take on part of God into yourself,

The more you take in to yourself more and more of Gods word and character,

Then the actions and words begin to meet up

This is only natural for a Christian as they get closer and closer to God

Because at that time God can be seen and heard to soeak through a persons actions and words and
God always does what He says and lives out who He is because He cannot do or be anything else

You see God is who He is, He is what He says, what He speaks He is becasue He cannot say anything
else but who He is, He is and that is who He is, the living Word, He cannot say what He will not do

He will not do what He is not, He will not be anything but Whom He is, this is His character to be what
He says

God Acted in His love by sending His Son to save us and His Son acted out the words He spoke

Jesus acted out the words spoken by the Prophets of old but acted out the very words He preached

Even after Jesus had gone to be with the Father Jesus left the Holy Spirit as the comforter

To lead into all truth and that truth sets us free

The New testament takes things to the heart, the new testament of God which is the "Testimony of Jesus"

Takes things to the heart, God changes a person from the inside out

The human heart cannot be trusted , it is deceitful, Jeremiah 17:9 Psalm 64:6 We might say "when have we murdered " when we put the Son of God on a Cross and held Him their
with our sin !

We might say " when have we committed adultery" when we worship external things and anything
that may become a god in our hearts, when we look with our eyes in lust at someone and then deny
it to ourselves

We might say " when have I lied ? " when we deceive ourselves and others at times and we say one
thing and yet do another, when we do one thing and yet say another, when we think one thing and yet
say another

We might say "when have I stolen ? " then we steal by not giving to God that which belongs to Him
in offerings ( tithing is'nt just about money "

We might say "Im a kind person " and yet there is no one good but God

With one breathe the people shout Out "Hosanna to the Son of David"

And later with the same breathe cry out " CRUCIFY HIM"

During my early years as a new believer I found the gap between my life and heart and Gods word

I found myself speaking out Gods word and yet my life did not always reflect His word

Instead I choose to remain silent rather than speaking out the truth, rather than speaking out
those things that my life did not reflect

Until I realised that this was not about me and God wanted me to seek Him above all else

People wanted to hear God speak NOT ME

The more I go on the more I realise that there is so much more , the more I learn the more I
realise there is so much more to learn

One question raises two more, one revelation brings several more sought after answers

And so you may have known of this gap between your life and Gods word !

It can almost seem like God is a million miles away...can't it !

Your mundane life and Gods word just don't seem to relate !

We looked at this in a previous message where Asaph walked through the veil and into the inner
sanctuary of God and was able to leave behind those doubts and fears

Where He had a revelation of God and where He found it was Jesus and Jesus alone who could bring
Him to be right with God, where Apash's enemies would fall and where God had the final victory

Jesus is the "Key" the "door" the "way" the "path"

No rituals or habits or daily routines are ever going too make any difference, its about the miracle
maker, its all about Him

As we rub against the Character of God so we become more and more like Him, this is where words and actions
begin to meet

This is where Actions and words Jesus,

And so we have looked firstly and briefly at the Great and Holy and awesome God that we serve

And we have skipped over some of the ways the enemy can trip us up with external concerns and
attitudes, where we see a gap between the Holy God and our own lifes even though we
know as Christians that God lives in us and we can enter into His prescence and into His courts

As early and young born again believers we can get trapped and we can as I experienced myself
get caught up in this "hypocrite" experience where our lifes and Gods word do not always meet

Now Im not into theory or "Yes but" Im simply speaking from my life

Too many times new Christians are beaten down when they are seen as "Not Christian " because of outward
appearance and outward signs

Now we look quickly at Psalms 76,77 and 78

Psalm 76 has a cross reference to 2 Kings 18 :13

And we looked last time at "Pharoah" and the crossing of the sea of reeds and we looked at anything
that may seek to reign and rule above God in our lifes and how the "Ruler" pharoah and the armies
that sought to enslave and trap Gods people were swallowed up in the sea

And Gods people were released into a new life ! but they still took with them a lot of Egypt, they took
with them the customs and rituals of Egypt, the foods of egypt, the habits and the manners of Egypt

They were not suddenly transformed into new people as they crossed through the waters and into
a new journey with God, (although they are in the spiritual)

It takes time as God works from the inside out, sometimes many years until Gods working begins to
show and the outward signs become evident

The people of God had a journey to take and this faithwalk would be a training ground for the things to come, for the life to come.

In 2 Kings 18 we read about Hezekiah and Josiah making reforms and we see that Hezekiah destroyed
altars , idols and pagan temples, he made a great start

Even the bronze serpent that Moses held up in the desert was destroyed as this in itself had become an idol of worship

Hezekiah destoyed all the idols and items of worship in the Kingdom

And we can relate this to the "Chosen " people as they begin their journey through the wilderness

We can relate it to our own lifes as we let go of things we held onto in the past that became idols in
our lifes

We can relate this to God cleansing us from the inside out and destroying idols in our hearts

This in turn making us more like God and drawing our actions and words together

But we see with King Hezekiah that He decided to join the rebellion (“And the Lord was with him;
wherever he went out, he prospered. He rebelled against the king of Assyria and would not
serve him”). The prophet Isaiah, however, condemns Jerusalem’s rulers for forming a coalition of
rebellion with Egypt.

So although Hezekiah started well and began to pull down the idols of the heart rather than trusting in God
it seems he have formed some kind of allegiance with Egypt

Isaiah 36

4The field commander said to them, “Tell Hezekiah,

“‘This is what the great king, the king of Assyria, says: On what are you basing this confidence of
yours? 5You say you have strategy and military strength—but you speak only empty words. On
whom are you depending, that you rebel against me?

6Look now, you are depending on Egypt,
that splintered reed of a staff, which pierces a man’s hand and wounds him if he leans on it! Such
is Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who depend on him.

7And if you say to me, “We are depending on
the Lord our God”—isn’t he the one whose high places and altars Hezekiah removed, saying to
Judah and Jerusalem, “You must worship before this altar”?

Empty words ! so many empty words ! I speak and yet my heart and life does not reflect

When it comes to the crunch do I look back to "Egypt"?

When times are hard do I look to God or to other forces ?

When times are difficult do I rely on God alone ?

Isaiah 29:13

The Lord says: "These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is made up only of rules taught by men.

Psalm 19:14

May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O LORD,
my Rock and my Redeemer.

We say words have power but I can say one thing and do another

Have you ever experienced a chld screaming "I HATE YOUUUUUUUUUUUUU"

And the next moment they are giving you a cuddle ?

We can do one thing and yet say another, we can think one thing and yet do another

Now we skip breifly through Psalm 78

And here we read about the Journey through the wilderness and we see Gods people wandering through
their journey and we see that some looked back and wanted to go back and we see the entire Psalm here
briefly skipping through the wilderness journey of the Exodus

Here again we see a gap, we see in

Psalm 78:36-37 (New International Version)

36 But then they would flatter him with their mouths, lying to him with their tongues;

37 their hearts were not loyal to him, they were not faithful to his covenant.

We see through the wilderness journey that some wanted to go back to Egypt

Some mumbled and groaned, complained and grumbled

Their hearts were not right and many stumbled in the desert

They turned to other gods of gold and of silver and stone

They might have loved God for what they could get

There was a gap between God and them

"O dear we came on this journey thinking things would be better, but in fact we would have been
better off in Egypt"

You see they kind of made an alliance with Egypt " if you like"

Sought of hold onto that "just in case, we can always go back"

The new testament however goes to the heart, lets commit ourselves to stop lookin back at
Egypt "the world"

Lets be Hezekiahs of the world letting God pull down the strongholds in our lifes

But not panic when the enemy comes up against us and try to go back or find strength in the forces of the world, Lets commit ourselves to immerse ourselves in God and His word that we would become more like Him

That the Holy Spirit would invade every area of our lifes

That we would be open to Him and that our words and actions as we draw ever
nearer and walk into and through that veil would come to meet

That we would meet with God in such a way that our actions and our words meet together

As indeed Gods actions and words do so we too take on more of Him and become more like Him

In action and word as He is the word

This is why we always look to God In Jesus, this is why we seek first the Kingdom Of God

We are made righteous in Him through the blood as we confess and as we repent and as we walk
on a daily journey

Read through Psalm 78 and get a picture of the journey of the "Chosen ones"

Indeed we are grafted into the vine and we feed from the true vine

When you meet a Christian person who does what they say and speaks as they do follow that person

They have God speaking through them by their words and by their actions

No one is perfect, they will make mistakes, but there is much to be learnt from such a person as this
God works from the inside out and the work He does is not always seen straight away, in fact it
can often be seen many years later

We need the "hidden season" the season of preparation, the season of waiting, the season of
learning, the Hezekiah season of tearing down gods

Then when the time is right in its season, God will use a person

But be warned of testing times and when it comes to the crunch, when we need something to hold onto
for security, when we feel we need that protection to hold onto do not look to the world and its values

we need too and I need to remember that God is into Character building

He is looking for His Son in us, He is looking for that character of Himself that reflects

He is into putting part of His own Character into us, so that the two roads meet "WHERE ACTIONS AND WORDS MEET"

Lord God in Jesus name we come to you through the blood shed and we are made righteous in your sight through the blood of Jesus as we come to you each day and as we walk with you

Become the words we speak, be in us to the point where our actions speak louder than words

You shine through us Lord and radiate out Psalm 19:14 May the words of our mouths and the meditation of our hearts be much affected with
the excellence of the word of God;

In Jesus name Amen
