THE LOVE OF GOD ,Psalm 45-46

God our Father on the rainbow
God our Father on the rainbow (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
I have a word and I shall simply type not knowing what that word shall be, because it is'nt about me but about Him and He shall give me the words

Wow how beautiful are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims the salvation of the Lord, for He has delivered us from our enemies and He has restored us to the place where we can walk with the oil of gladness above our fellow men

For the oil of Joy is there, like a river and the anointing of the Lord is upon those who seek Him, as Isaiah 61 proclaims

O the love of the Lord God as He prepares the chambers for His beloved

As the wedding feast is made ready and the Bridegroom waits in eager expectation to see His beloved

As He will come by night in proccession with the torches lit and as the bride not knowing the time of His arrival waits and makes herself ready for her husband

O as the bridegroom shouts out with a loud shout and beckons His Bride down She ready ?

She prepares herself with oils and perfumes and fragrances and beautifies herself ready for her love

Her heart is full of praise and admiration , of joy and of wonder, Her
heart wants to praise Her husband

Her heart wants to worship Her husband above all else ...

For there is no other in her life ?

There is no other love in Her life and Her husband is the Only one ?

She has never fornicated Herself or had relations with any other, she has never had another love for she has prepared herself and waited for only one

The love of Her life and she Has been prepared by the Father of the Bridegroom

For He wants the best for His Son , the best of the best and the best of the best are those whose hearts are pure, who seek after righteouness and hate wickedness

Who Seek after Him and seek ONLY Him and the Father prepares the bride for the great day when His Son shall come by night with a great shout and beckon the Bride Home to His house

And in that house are many rooms and they shall be as one together

As one who leaves their Father and Mother to be married so too is one to leave behind and be prepared to leave all behind to be with the Bridegroom

And while the bride is being prepared she knows that He will always be there, for the Father promises that He will never leave and Jesus is there all the time watching and waiting and He will never leave her nor forsake Her

For She is His Church and His only one, the bride , the beloved, the loved one,

Though the ground might shake and the mountains tremble she will stand

Though she may fall by the wayside and be picked up by the certain
samaritan, She knows that whatever happens She is loved

She knows that whoever might invade, whoever might try to take her, whoever might try to take and to invade, to plunder and to mislead into error

She Has One whom will protect Her, She has one who has always loved her and always will love Her, becasue His love does not faulter

His love is the same yesterday , today and forever

He does not alter or change over time, He is not like the shifting shadows

He NEVER changes, although you never know what He will do next

For He keeps His bride alert and ready and she is so in love with Him

She knows that She depends on Him, She knows that without Him she is nothing

She knows that She is weak , She knows that she might be tempted

As in the garden of fragrance...She knows that she might sin and be tempted

She knows that while in that garden of fragrance that she might take that fruit from the wrong tree

But She has one who will love her with an undieing love, an never ending love

She knows that when mountains shake and the earth trembles that He is there

He says " be still and know that I am God "

She knows that whatever happens He will defend Her for He is the mighty one

Valiant in splendour and He rides out in majesty to calm the waves

And She looks to Him for her shelter and Her comfort, for Her protection and for her haven

For He is all things to Her and She is the Church and She is the Bride

She is YOU AND ME being prepared as individuals and as a body

We who have Christ , we who walk in relationship, we who are being prepared for that day and no one knows that day, but The Father will stir His Son and His Son shall come like a thief in the night

And the Bride shall be taken and they shall be as one

He walks in that garden of perfumes and He picks those choicest of

He knows all by name and His love for them will never change

Father God in Jesus name we come to you as those being prepared and transformed, we come to you as those being made ready for that great day when you will come with a shout, we wait in eager expectation for that day when we shall be as one

We know that whatever may come He promises to go through the bad times with us, He will not spare us the rough road, but He gives us the ability to walk with Him through the tough times

So that we can walk with that gladness of knowing Him even though life may throw many spears our way

We know that the enemy will destroy Himself and come against Himself

We know that the battle belongs to you O Lord

Though a thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at
your right hand, they shall not approach us

We know O Lord God that when the enemy approached Jerusalem and tried to take that which did not belong to him , you casued the enemy to come up against himself

And we know Lord that whatever spear or trial or tribulation may come up against us, whatever earthquake or famine, whatever affliction or trial

Whatever temptation or pestilence, YOU will always be there and you will be there always guiding us through and giving us the ability and endurance

Because you have been through this and you have conquered the world

And you take us ..."the Bride " and you protect us

For you are our shelter and our refuge from the storm

In Jesus name amen

I found myself speaking to the Lord earlier in the week and I was seeking Him and as I found myself seeking Him I found myself asking Him about His love

Not knowing that later I would be typing this message about Psalm 45 and 46 and what that would be about

I was asking Him about His love and seeking Him and while I was doing this He spoke back and He said this

"My love for you has always been the same, I have loved you the same always, my love does'nt change,

Do you remember when you first found me ? do you remember when you first felt my love ? do you remember that time when you felt my love ? "

"Think back to the one time in your life when you really felt my love in the strongest way ? do you think I do not love you anymore ? do you believe my love for you has changed ?

do you believe that my love for you is based on
how you feel ?, imagine the one time when you have known and really felt my love ! that is nothing no nothing compared to how I really love you "

"Think back to the time when you first found me ? has my love for you changed, since that time ? has my love ever changed ? has my love for you changed in the past and even now ? NO and neither in the future "

God also spoke to me about His joy, a joy welling up within, a joy that is above the circumstances and situations of life, a joy that can overflow from the lips and be a fragrance to many

The words I have shared now are words that were spoken to me this week, while seeking God about His love

Now we shall turn to Psalms 45 and 46

Again we read the words of the descendents of Korah and here we see a song of love

And they brought him to the place called Gol'gotha (which means the place of a skull). And they offered him wine mingled with myrrh; but he did not take it. Mark 15:22-23

And we know that scripture tells us that we are a sweet aroma to all around

Hebrews 1:9

New International Version
You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy."

2 Corinthians 2:15

New International Version

For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.

And so we begin at Psalm 45 where God stirs up within us and the Holy Spirit over realms us and we are filled with praise and adoration

Psalm 45 is a Psalm about the Bride and the Groom, Jesus and His Church.

Psalm 45 is about the relationship between Himself and His Church, His love for His Church, His Bride, His love,

We can almost see the "song of songs " here as we read through this Psalm

And we read from Luke 4:22

English Standard Version

And all spoke well of him and marveled at the gracious words that were coming from his mouth. And they said, “Is not this Joseph’s son?”

Psalm 45 (New Living Translation)

1 Beautiful words stir my heart.I will recite a lovely poem about the king, for my tongue is like the pen of a skillful poet.

2 You are the most handsome of all.Gracious words stream from your lips.

We must always be ready to give an account and to share what we believe and as a Church and as a Body of believers , as the Bride of Christ, we would want to glorify and praise the one who saved us and who saves us

The one whom said "I thirst " and they offered Him wine mixed with my myrrh and to His lips they offered Him this

Myrrh of cause was one of the gifts the Magi brought to the infant Jesus is as we know one of the spices used to prepare Jesus' body for burial

We see also with Joseph in Genesis 37:23-25 that the brothers stripped Joseph of his robe and they cast him into the pit or well which was empty and we read in

Genesis 37:23-25 that some Ishmaelites who were traders and merchants going on
their way to Egypt were transporting gum, balm, and myrrh,

And the brothers traded with them for twenty pieces of silver

And we realise that myrrh and spices were expensive as we read from 2 Kings 20:13

"And Hezekiah welcomed them, and he showed
them all his treasure house, the silver, the gold, the spices, the precious oil, his armory, all that was found in his storehouses; there was nothing in his house or in all his realm that Hezekiah did not show them."

And lets now read from psalm 45

Psalm 45 (New International Version)

1 My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.

2 You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever.

3 Gird your sword upon your side, O mighty one; clothe yourself with splendor and majesty.

4 In your majesty ride forth victoriously in behalf of truth, humility and righteousness; let your right hand display awesome deeds.

5 Let your sharp arrows pierce the hearts of the king's enemies;
let the nations fall beneath your feet.

6 Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy.

8 All your robes are fragrant with myrrh and aloes and cassia;
from palaces adorned with ivory the music of the strings makes you glad.

9 Daughters of kings are among your honored women; at your right hand is the royal bride in gold of Ophir.

10 Listen, O daughter, consider and give ear Forget your people and your father's house.

11 The king is enthralled by your beauty; honor him, for he is your lord.

12 The Daughter of Tyre will come with a gift, men of wealth will seek your favor.

13 All glorious is the princess within her chamber ; her gown is interwoven with gold.

14 In embroidered garments she is led to the king; her virgin companions follow her and are brought to you.

15 They are led in with joy and gladness; they enter the palace of the king.

16 Your sons will take the place of your fathers; you will make them princes throughout the land.

17 I will perpetuate your memory through all generations; therefore the nations will praise you for ever and ever.

Let the Church rise and see the Love of the King, let Her see that He indeed has an undieing love for Her, let her rise up like the dawn and let Her be clothed in splendour as she rises up to Her Bridegroom

Let that Robe be a fragrance of delight and the myrrh , aloes and cassia be blown around Her as she delights her King, Her Husband, Her first and only love

Psalm 46

Because He is Her refuge and shelter, He is her protection and Her security, and when the earth shakes and the mountains trembles

And as we come to Psalm 46 we go back to where the nations came up against Jerusalem as we read about last week when we looked at Psalms 42 - 44

And we see Gods p[rote4ction and deliverance as the enemies come up against the Lords anointed and as the nations rise up against Gods chosen

For we know that being saved does not give us a ticket to having no problems and we know that we shall go through many trials but we also know that God will walk with us and we shall be delivered.

He says in Psalm 46 " Be still and know that I am God "

Where else does He say "Be Still " ?

Though the nations rise up, though the earth shakes, though the mountains crumble into the sea, though the waves roar and foam we know that a river brings joy to the City Of God !!

Though Jerusalem had no river ....God was their river

Though other nations had rivers that sustained them and kept them filled and watered their crops , Jerusalem had no river, BUT God was their river

Though Joseph found himself in an empty well , a pit that was dry God was His water of Joy

Though Jesus said "I thirst " He was the river

He was and is the water of life

And He is an everlasting river and water of life that shall go on through the ages of time and beyond time and into eternity

For the oil of Joy is there, like a river and the anointing of the Lord is upon those who seek Him, as Isaiah 61 proclaims

His love is the same yesterday , today and forever, their is no shadow of turning with Him and we shelter in the shadow of His wings

He is that water of life and He is our joy and the love that is the
greatest gift of all

And so I ask myself this question !

Do I know the joy and the love of God ? I mean really know ?

Have I experienced that joy like a river flowing through me ?

Lets pray

Lord Husband and deliverer, shelter and refuge, river of life and water of love, Bridegroom and lover, First love and only love, Jesus we come to you and ask for that Joy to permeate us,

that we would experience that
water of life flowing through us, that we would experience that river of the Holy Spirit more and more as we go on with you

Let me know this as a fact, that you love me , not just when I feel it,
but let me know and experience that love and joy and fill me to overflowing
In Jesus Name amen

The Prince of peace who comes with a sword ,Psalm 45,

My arming sword Juvante

The Prince of peace who comes with a sword

Author Guardian

To find life you must loose it...

Yes Jesus brings peace and a sword

There is a sacrifice...a cost...we do not go back , we move on with God

1 Kings 19:19-21 (English Standard Version)

19So he departed from there and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing
with twelve yoke of oxen in front of him, and he was with the twelfth. Elijah passed
by him and cast his cloak upon him. 20And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah
and said, "Let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you."

he said to him, "Go back again, for what have I done to you?" 21And he returned
from following him and took the yoke of oxen and sacrificed them and boiled their
flesh with the yokes of the oxen and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then
he arose and went after Elijah and assisted him.

There is a dividing of the waters

2 Kings 2:8 (English Standard Version)

8Then Elijah(A) took his cloak and rolled it up and struck the water,(B) and the water
was parted to the one side and to the other, till the two of them could go over on dry

And we walk through the waters

Exodus 14:21 (English Standard Version)

21Then Moses(A) stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD drove the sea
back by(B) a strong east wind all night and(C) made the sea dry land, and the waters
were(D) divided.

We have this water inside of us..He is The Holy Spirit

Numbers 20:11 (English Standard Version)

11And Moses lifted up his hand and struck the rock with his staff twice,(A) and water
came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their livestock.

He produces in us a new song...the Salvation song...

Numbers 21:17-18 (English Standard Version)

17Then Israel sang this song:

"Spring up, O well!—Sing to it!— 18the well that the princes made, that the nobles
of the people dug, with the scepter and with their staffs."

Lord God in Jesus name thankyou that you give a peace that the world cannot understand,
it is not a peace that gives us a nice feeling inside but a peace that transcends all
understanding from the Holy Spirit of peace that comes down as a gift from the Father
of lights.

Lord speak to us and illuminate your word to us, let us go deeper into your word and put
down roots into your word that we would be strong trees growing by the side of the waters
bearing fruit in its season.

That the nations would come to us and that our branches would be the branches that when
broken would make the bitter waters sweet.

Let the sap from the broken heal and make sweet and be a savor to those who hold onto
their lifes in the vain hope of gaining.

That many will be drawn to the trees by the waters that produce palm branches used to
welcome the King of Kings and The Lord of Lords.

Let the storm come and let those houses collapse...that many will know and understand
the parable of the house and the builder...and come to a saving knowledge of loosing their
lifes to gain life and to gain life in abundance.

And let the trees of the Lord stand strong and not move In Jesus name amen

And so we come back to...Cross references and we look to Mathew 10:38

Matthew 10:34-38 (English Standard Version)

Not Peace, but a Sword
34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to
bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father,
and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.

36 And a person’s enemies will be those of his own household. 37 Whoever loves
father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, and whoever loves son or daughter
more than me is not worthy of me. 38And whoever does not take his cross and follow me is not worthy of me.
At the Cross you could say that "water and blood mixed at the point of the spear."

John 19:34 (New International Version)

34Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden
flow of blood and water.

But He also came and comes with a sword

Heb.4:12 - For the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged
sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder the soul and spirit, and the joints and
marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

You see Jesus came as a saviour...not as a judge, He came as the "Way " to walk in..

He showed us by example and He shows us the way to walk,

I once had a vision of a spear coming down and piercing a heart, little did I know at the
time that the vision was for me and the vision really is for every Christian who takes
up the Cross.

At the point where Jesus hung on the Cross He looked at those surrounding Him in Love and
always saw His family ...His brothers and sisters, as those who followed Him ..

Once when Jesus's family became concerned about His safety they went to find him ...

"Matthew 12:47-50 (Someone told him, "Your mother and your brothers are standing
outside, asking to speak with you.") [48] But he said in reply to the one who told him,
"Who is my mother? Who are my brothers?" [49] And stretching out his hand toward his
disciples, he said, "Here are my mother and my brothers.

You see Jesus came to bring peace..

Matthew 10:34"Do not think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring
peace but a sword!

I wonder what this sword is ?

Matthew 5:9"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. ?

There is a well known saying " blood is thicker than water " in other words family as
in our " blood family " will always be closer and bound together more so than those
outside of our immediate families.

Well when you are saved and you become a Christian Jesus brings peace into your life, this
peace is a peace that the world cannot understand, it is a peace that in the midst of a
storm keeps us calm.

It is a peace that surpasses all is a peace that comes from God ...a
gift if you like...a gift from God.

How can I describe this peace from my own experience ?

I can describe this peace from and of God ...not as a feeling, not as an emotion, not as
a "wow I feel so peaceful man "

I can describe this peace as a peace that keeps me calm in a storm, when all around me
are loosing their pose, I have peace.

Its a peace knowing that God does not change, knowing God and who He is, being sure of.

Without doubt and not turning even when it is 3am and it seems as though Jesus has
abandoned us and all is know these are not just fancy words here, I'm speaking
from my life and heart, this is not some theology lesson.

Sure we doubt...sure we loose it at times, but we have this ongoing assurance and ongoing
confidence that God is bigger.

If you read our last bible message on the " Faithwalk Blog " you will read about " the
unchanging God "

Matthew 14:24 (English Standard Version)

24but the boat by this time was a long way[a] from the land,[b] beaten by the waves, for
the wind was against them.

On the fourth watch of the night, or at 3am..or in the early hours of the morn...( Jesus
comes like a thief in the night to steal away His beloved )

At 3am Jesus comes....when the storm is raging all around you ...even so you are calm
because NOW YOU have Jesus in you by His Holy Spirit that brings peace as a Dove and
although the storms of life may come your way do not turn, your house does not

Your faith goes on...the peace that you have been given in an unchanging God who keeps
His promises keeps you going through the storm and Jesus comes at 3am and says " with
the breath of His mouth ( sword ) "peace be still"

You not only have that peace residing in YOU, but you have that can say
" Peace be still "

Sometimes you may have years of storm but you can also have access to that peace, IF you
allow it or Him

It is a peace that brings the blood and the water together at the Cross, where your family
are those brothers and sisters in Christ.

You can only have this peace through and in the Holy Spirit of God
If you want to know this peace in your life you need to accept Jesus into your life and
heart, He will not force His way into your life and make you like a puppet on a string,
as if He could ever force anyone to become a robot..

You need to ask Him in ...and as you ask Him into your life His Holy Spirit of peace
like a dove will descend upon you and again you may not feel anything, but He will be
there and in time you will know this gift of the peace of God that transcends all

But the sword that divides,.. what of the sword that divides ?

The sword is the sword of His mouth, the sword is the word that creates, the sword is the
breathe of His mouth, the sword is the life giving Spirit, the sword is the sword that is
the living word , the sword is the sword that inspired men to write down the very words
of God onto manuscripts,

The sword is the sword that is translated into modern day
language for us to read, the sword is the sword that we read and that transforms our
lifes and hearts becasue it is a living sword, a living word and the word lives in us.

When we take up our Cross we will be pierced, His Holy Spirit will pierce us, and His
Holy Spirit will divide thoughts and motives of the heart and in so doing this in turn may
cause a strom to arise .

I remember when I first became a Christian...I wondered about my old friends and what I was
leaving behind and what they might think of me now and how they might react, how would my
family react ? you see the Holy Spirit.....the sword had begun the dividing.

Now it seemed I had a new family, new role models..

Now it seemed my baptism into the family of God had washed a whole new way of living into
my life, now it seemed the water of the Holy Spirit had also affected all these other people
around me, they too had gone through the waters from Egypt to the other side to begin
their journey....their " faithwalk"

They had walked through those waters and reached the other side in safety while the stormy
sea engulfed the Egyptians seemd as if the peace of God had taken us through
the waters

Now the water of life was inside of me the Holy Spirit of life was inside of me.

Now the blood and water mixed at the point of the Cross

Now my family became or began to become all those in Christ

But what of my immediate family ? what about my blood relatives ?

Well although I never really got on with my parents and there was never really any
relationship there to speak of...for the first time ever I had a peace where I could see
them and talk to them and share with them.

And after many years of praying for my mother...she was saved..

My father was not saved as far as I know, but that does not mean that God did not meet him
at the point of death.

This message was meant to follow cross references in the bible but has ended up being
a differnet message than was be it

Consider Matthew 10:34

Not Peace, but a Sword
34 "Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth.(B) I have not
come to bring peace, but a sword.

Now consider

John 14:27 (New International Version)

27Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.
Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

In fact the Holy Spirit is a gentleman, the Holy Spirit is a Dove of peace !!

Once again we see a paradox, we see a two edged sword...we see two swings of a sword that
seem to contradict each other, we see God come in from both sides !!

We see God dividing our thoughts and motives and giving us peace, we see Jesus and the
sword of His mouth dividing and giving us a new family, we see at the point of the Cross
the blood and the water mix.

So how does this speak to us and how can we apply this message to our lifes and hearts...

I believe the Holy Spirit once again is echoing a message to people that once they "born
again " once they are saved....once they walk through the waters of the red sea...

The Sword separates them ...the Sword separates us...the Sword separates YOU AND ME..
the Sword separates us as Christians from the land we left behind, we are separated,

Although we are in the world we are not of the world...we cannot look back...for once
we have walked through the sea we are the "salt" of the earth and when we look back
and long for former days...when we look back to that city of Sodom and Gomorrah ...we can
become motionless...neither going forward or going back.

Neither hot nor cold...we can become an abomination to God, we can become Laodiceans, in
other words like the Church in revelations that needed for nothing, ( the rich young ruler)

(Or the rich country that is in fact poor with debt)

Laodiceans who were a rich banking community only concerned with their wants and material
concerns, they had become like " the world " by looking back. Motionless...good for

We can become motionless, "a pillar of salt".

God is always moving on and we must follow Him, He never stands still...He does not
slumber, He never rests and again we find another paradox, a two edged word that swings
accross the hearts of those who have ears.

God never rests...HE does NOT STAND STILL....and yet....we rest in Him

I wonder what God makes of "OUR" day of rest ? the day of rest that we have given
ourselves ? that mindset of " mans " concept...of a "day "

I wonder if Jesus would say " get behind me satan " !!

For God never rests and has no need to rest, but we rest in Him and work with Him as
He works through us, this is our "day " of rest.

Our notions of a heaven and our human concept of man made ideas about floating around
in a cloud with angels is so far away from the truth it is almost a lie.

Heaven is an eciting place full of motion and movement and noise and when we are on the
new earth there will be a new heavens and I wonder if our bodies that will not need rest
or see decay will be motionless !!

Or whether it shall be full of noise and vigour and excitement and noise and commotion and
activity !!

And so listen to the swing of the sword, see how the blood mixes with water..

In other words putting it simply.

We are separate, a Holy People, do not look back, do not stand still, walk on and do not
give up, you are divided and set apart " HOLY " and you also in this find the peace
that ONLY the Holy Spirit can give.

You will find once you are saved that you will be separated, you will see a "separation "

BUT you will find a whole new family of brothers and sisters. you will find blood mixing
with water, in other words you do not just share with those in your family line..your
family suddenly gets bigger as the crumbs are scattered under the table, so salvation is
for all, and the seed of Abraham grows.

But you must move on, do not look back, do not be controlled by your past...

Know that peace in your life that surpasses all understanding.

It is not about being busy, anyone can be busy,

It is about doing what we believe God is telling us, it is acting on the word, it is
letting God work through us and putting aside what we might want, this is Christian faith
acts, its about listening to God and obeying Him.

We can never live and do all that we read in Gods word, even a good deeds..if there is
such a thing, are as filthy rags to God, and so it is about listening to God and then
acting on what God is telling us.

It is about moving on with God....

I wonder if God has a bible ?

I wonder if every day of our lifes are written in His book ?

I wonder if the bible ends in revelations !! or whether it carries on in the lifes of His
people here and now !!

As this is a living word, living in us and the "acts" of His people continue.

Even if you only take a small amount of this message in...take it as from God and listen
to what He says ..through that small amount ...lets pray

Speak out to God and lose your life to find life.

Lord God I come to you . the living God and I give you my life wholeheartedly so that I
might find life, I give you my family..that I might find my family..I give you all I have
that I might find all that is in you.

I give you my troubles that you might give me your peace.

I give you all I have that I might find that treasure in you.

I give you 100%

In Jesus name amen

How can light mingle with darkness,Psalm 43,

Light of the World

How can light mingle with darkness

Author Guardian

I often hear fellow Christians say " Do not be unequally yoked with none
believers "

As if we are not to have anything to do with " non believers "

We are not to befriend nor be seen to agree with them...

So I ask you this question..

How can we be unequally yoked with non believers ?

You see before I knew the Lord, He was speaking to me, He was gently nurturing me,
His Holy Spirit was speaking into my life and heart, the Light of the world was
speaking to me while I was walking in darkness.

The light of the world was iluminating my heart and mind and even though I did'nt
know His voice or recognise His calling at the time, my heart was responding to

All of us who are Christians now at some point walked along the Damascus Road and
had a light shine down on us.

While we still walked in sin, While we still walked in the " I " Instead of the " O "

The " "I" in the middle of s "I" n

Instead of the "O" in the middle of S " O " N.

We all had that " O " , that God hole inside that needed to be filled..

It was no good blaming anyone was no good blaming Adam and Eve...

Adam and Eve were not the only people to disobey and be rebellious.

We were enemies of God, walking in disobedience, Walking in the " I " , walking
the wide path, walking along when sudenly a light began to shine down.

And God spoke to us whether we recognised His voice or not...

And as God said to Paul " Paul why do you persecute me "

He could have been saying it to any one of us, because all of us held Jesus to
the Cross.

And the light shone down upon us and we fell and responded...

Now we suddenly realised the way in which we had been walking and for the first
time we began to realise that maybe we needed to change and walk another way.

Before that time we knew no different, before that time we were walking in darkness,

But at the point of the light coming down then...even though we were blinded by the
Light of the world and we walked knowing that we were blind...this was the turning
point of our lifes .

Now we knew we were blind and we sought to have our blindness taken away.

Now and only now could we see the way we had walked in our previous life.

Now and only now could we see that we had been walking in darkness and now we
realised how dark that darkness was.

Now as Paul ....walked along in blindness, we too walked in blindness instead of

Because for the first time our eyes had been opened to the truth that we were blind.

I wonder how many of us had a ......." Ananias.." praying for us ?

Now having sat and sought God we knew the lifting of the scales from our eyes and
at last we walked in the light, now we could go out and see the world in new eyes.

Now we could mix as Paul mixed with the gentile and the jew.

You see most of us walk alongside those who are called ( by the Christian community )
" non believers "

A lot of us work with non believers, a lot of us mingle with non believers, a lot of
us have more contact with non believers than we do with believers.

Every day we walk alongside those who still walk in darkness...

We mingle with these people, as Jesus Himself mingled with people.

Jesus did not spend all His time at the local synagogue, neither did he spend His
time with the religious people of that day.

In fact as we read , He spent most of His time as the light of the world mingling
with the people who walked in darkness and the people who walked in darkness had
seen a great light.

He walked and mingled with those who were prostitutes and thieves, those who were
down and out and those who were beggars of that time.

Those who were tax collectors and shepherds, who were not seen as the " top " of
society at that time.

He walked and talked with the lady at the well and told her how she was living,
because the light was shining in the darkness and iluminating the hearts of those

In fact you know who Jesus could see into more than anyone ?

The pharisees and the sadducees !!

His light exposed the hearts of those religious teachers of the law...

Jesus looked past the external things and His light saw into the hearts of the
people around Him.

And so we see that Paul himself saw the light, and we see that we ourselves saw and
the light and we now as Paul walk in the light and we see that the Magi, those
magi ..cians followed the light to the place of Jesus .

To the manger, that was a feeding trough in a stable, so that all could feed from
the bread of life as in a manger.

And the shepherds of the sheep saw a light and heard heaven rejoicing...

So in fact we see time and time again that instead of the light hiding away, the
light in fact does the opposite and exposes and shines out into the darkness and
the darkness can never hide the light.

For the light of the world exposes the darkness and the darkness in a heart.

And as Paul , it is not until the light exposes that we realise that we are blind.

And we seek to have our blindness taken away.

So what does it mean when we read " Do not be un equally yoked with non believers " ?

Surely we spend all our time with " non believers "

We watch television, we listen to the radio, we read the newspapers...

We are in the world but not of the world.

Our enemy is not far out there somewhere, but in fact our enemy is all around us.

We are living in the enemy camp, but "stronger is He that is in us, than he that
is in the world "

And so we read these scriptures and we ponder what they might mean ?

2 Corinthians 6:14 (New International Version)

14Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and
wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness?

2 Corinthians 6:14 (Amplified Bible)

14Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers [do not make mismated alliances with
them or come under a different yoke with them, inconsistent with your faith.

Some time ago I had to reach a decision regarding my business..

At that time I had just split from a partnership of three that employed five people,
and was launching out on my own, I employed two people to carry on my own cleaning
business, but I had come up against some interesting decisions that I had to make
some conclusion on.

One of the people working with me at that point was not a Christian and the other
was, during the years I employed people I met and employed many " non believers "

And I am sure that a little of me rubbed off on them and I am sure a little of
the character of God rubbed off on them.

They probably saw all the bad points about me and workinbg alongside me all the time,
they saw me on my bad days and my good days, they saw all the jagged edges.

They probably saw things about me that I never saw, they saw my bad hair days,
and they probably made up their own decisions based on what they saw.

In fact I could say that at that time of employing people I would prefer to employ
non believers because this gave an open doorway for God, and the Christians who
worked for me probably knew me too well and probably had preconceived ideas about
" what I was like "

They saw me as I was and not as I am...

In other words they had already made up their minds what I was like by what they
had heard about me.

They did not really see me as God was moving me on, but saw me as they had seen me
years ago.

You know beware of people who read into things that are'nt really there...

The devil can get a foothold on these things, never try to read into situations
without knowing the full story and seek God above all else, never base your
thoughts on " lack of knowledge "

But back to the topic at hand..

At this point in time while I was running this business several firms were joining
up together and this was a great idea, it strengthened firms and made for more

I had several firms come to me asking if I would be interested in joining together !!

This would have meant doubling or tripling turnover, this would have meant joining
our ideas together and our teams together and putting our knowledge of the cleaning
business together.

This might have meant expanding into all kinds of areas and possibilities...

But I had to reach a decision on this as I had done many times before and time and
time again I found myself unable to go ahead in these decisons..

Why ?

Because you cannot be unequally yoked with non believers...

Light cannot mingle in the things of the darkness...

In other words, although I worked alongside " those who did not believe at that
point "

Although I worked in a dark world, although I walked as a light in the darkness
and alonside those who had not yet been blinded by the light

I could not join forces with other people and do the things they did.

I had to "take up my Cross " if you like...

I had to out my walk with the Lord before the world..

It is one thing to work and walk alongside those who have not yet seen,
but quite another to do as they do.

Amalgamating with and joining up in partnership with non believers would
have meant taking on their practices and their ways of doing the books, it would
have meant , not just working alongside them but saying in effect " I am like you "

I had to walk away and stand my ground even though it meant " loosing out "

because you see there is a cost, but far greater the reward in the life to come.

You see you cannot be in the Kingdom of light and in the kingdom of darkness.

You cannot serve two masters..

Although Jesus walked alongside those that were in darkness and walking in darkness.

He did not do as they did..

So simply ....try to avoid at all cost forming alliances with those who are in
the world.

BUT try to befriend and walk alongside these people " at all cost "

Now there are some who find they " see the light " while in a marriage and
united with a " non believer "

Here you have the two kingdoms living together.

The reason that Gods word says " do not be unequally yoked "

Is not to say " this is a law "

It is not to say " you are wrong "

It is not to condemn and blast a Christian with scripture.

It is simply God saying " be wise.. be careful my son or daughter "

" you are walking in the light as children of the light so do not
do as the children of the dark do "

A simple illustration is this..............

If you stand on a chair and you try to pull someone else up onto that will find it quite difficult ?

Much easier for them to pull you down !!!

This is a simple rule to follow

the scripture we have looked at goes on...

17"Therefore come out from them
and be separate, says the Lord.
Touch no unclean thing,
and I will receive you."[d]
18"I will be a Father to you,
and you will be my sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty

Although we come out of Egypt ( the world )

We carry things along with us, we can still hold onto the gods of Egypt

We can still carry the rich foods of Egypt in us and it is not until we
come to the waters of Marah that we find our cleansing from the inside

It is not until we come to the springs of Elim that we find our filling.

It is not until we come to the base of the mountain and look up at the
mountain when things seem impossible that we start to see the gods that
we had held onto become the gods that we worship.

And we find ourselves unclean, unable to touch the mountain..

We can have a " golden calf " in our lifes.

We can carry the " golden calf "

And once we melt down those things we ....then and only then do we see the
idol for what it is.

It is not until the light comes that we see the darkness..

It is not until we are blinded by the light that we see that we were blind.

It is not until we come to the foot of the mountain that we see the " gods "
as they are.

Once the children of the light walk alongside the children of the
dark then the children of the dark will see a light and see that they have
been blinded and want to turn and follow the light.

And so to conclude..

Let us be a beacon light to those around, but not join forces with those around.

Let us be " the light of the world " in a dark place.

And let us walk up the mountain of God instead of joining with those who sit at
the bottom of the mountain.

For how can the army of the Lord join forces with the enemy ?

Lets pray.

Lord God in Jesus name you have given us so many gifts to use in the season of
salvation, you have given us the sabbath rest, the day of all days...

To walk in and to be lights shining in the darkness, that others might be
blinded by your light and see what they have been walking in and desire to see
and have their eyes opened.

You have given us Jesus who has been born in our hearts and reborn every time we
come to Him, you have given us so many gifts for this season...

Let us not follow the ways of the world but walk in the world, let us not be as
they are, but be as you are, let us not sit on the throne of judgement, but let you
be the judge, let us not pull others down but see you pull them up.

Let us walk alongside those who are weary and heavy laiden that they might find
" rest " from their labours and walk in yours.

Let us walk alongside those who are weary and heavy laiden that they might find,
" your sabbath rest "

Let us not walk past the stranger at the wayside, but let us help them and pick
them up.

Let us not walk past the stranger at the wayside but go to their aid as indeed
you first picked us up as the " good samaritan " and helped us to our feet and
continue to do so.

Let us not walk past the stranger at the wayside but pick them up as indeed you
pick up the Church.

Let us not join in and do things as other do , but do the things that you would do.

Let us in all things seek what you would want and not speak out of our fleshy nature.

In Jesus name amen

Depression and loneliness

Psalm 42-44,
Depression and loneliness

Lord God in Jesus mighty name and by the precious blood of Jesus we come to you
and we enter into your courts and into your Holy of Holies and we lay down before you
as living sacrifices in Jesus name amen

Depression and Loneliness

Trust in The Lord, do not be discouraged

In Whom do we trust ? in Whom do we thirst ?

We come to Psalm 42 and 43 and 44 but we look firstly at

2 Chronicles 20

Here we have Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20 being surrounded by enemies from
Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, some vast armies coming to take possession of a land
that did not belong to them.

These vast armies were marching towards the people of Judah and of Jerusalem ready
to conquer and to plunder the Lords possession

Here we have the Kings and armies of nations coming up against not just another
army or just another nation but coming up against the Lords anointed and appointed,
the Lords chosen and the Lords Armies

Here we have armies coming up against not just the people of Judah and Jerusalem
but coming up against God Himself and the armies of heaven

God had put His people in this place, God had chosen these people, it was Gods will
that they be where they were and let no man separate that which God has put together

And so Jehoshaphat prays to God and the Spirit of God falls upon Jahaziel son of
Zechariah and God speaks through Jahaziel and Jahaziel gives this message

'Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not
yours, but God's. 16 Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up
by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert
of Jeruel.

17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions;
stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, O Judah and Jerusalem.
Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the
LORD will be with you.' "

And so Jehoshaphat early the next day consulted the prophets and after seeking God
the People of Jerusalem and of Judah began to march forward and Jehoshaphat appointed
men to march at the front of the armies singing

"Give thanks to the LORD, for his love endures forever."

The men of Ammon and Moab rose up against the men from Mount
Seir to destroy and annihilate them.

After they finished slaughtering the men from
Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

And when the armies of Judah and of Jerusalem came to the place of battle they found
only dead bodies

And so Jehoshaphat and His army took the plunder and there was so much plunder that
it took three days to collect it up

And after they returned to Jerusalem and they went to the Temple of The Lord, and they
worshipped God there with with harps and lutes and trumpets and praised God for the

Note that at the greatest time of need they pray and worship as an army marching out to

Now we turn to Numbers 16

Here in Numbers 16 we have a story of rebellion, we have Korah a man followed and
admired , a man of standing, a man who had many followers, a man who was in the place that God wanted him to be in, a man who was put in the position he was in because that was where God wanted him to be

And yet Korah wanted more, Korah had the wrong kind of thirst,
in fact Korah had stirred up a rebellion against Moses

Korah was a man held in high esteem who had many followers and who stirred up over
two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly,

Korah saw himself in the place of Moses and felt that he could take that which did not belong to him

Moses was in the right place, He alone was appointed and anointed to lead at this
time and we see a similiar situation here to 2 Chronicles 20 where men rose up and
sought to take a place that was Gods and Gods alone and we see a thirst for power

This is not a God given thirst or a thirst for God , but a thirst for more a thirst of man, a thirst for power

Korah and his followers were Levites assigned by God for a specific task and here we
see them stepping out of their God given role and task and not being content with what they have they try to take control of more and that which is out of their capabilities

These men had limitations, they never were assigned to lead the people of

As we saw earlier with the nations and armies marching towards Gods people, we must never try to come up against someone who has been appointed by God and we must know our limitations

For only God can call a man or woman to a task and give them the ability and the
anointing to do that task and for anyone else to come up against the Lords
anointed and to try to oppose and take them from their place is a dangerous thing indeed

Having said that "sometimes someone can be called to a position by God but can be opposed by leaders as a threat to their leadership and can actually go against Gods will "

But in this case and in these instances we see that men rose up against those placed by God to take over and this was the wrong thirst, it can be a thirst for power and for fame led by ego and by pride

And so Korah leads a rebellion against Moses in Numbers 16 and Moses becomes angry,

Note :

22 But Moses and Aaron fell facedown and cried out, "O God, God of the spirits of
all mankind, will you be angry with the entire assembly when only one man sins?"

So we see next that Moses speaks of the earth opening up and swallowing and we see
that Moses knows what is about to happen and the earth opened up under the men

28 Then Moses said, "This is how you will know that the LORD has sent me to do all these
things and that it was not my idea: 29 If these men die a natural death and experience only what usually happens to men, then the LORD has not sent me.

30 But if the LORD
brings about something totally new, and the earth opens its mouth and swallows them with everything that belongs to them, and they go down alive into the grave, then you will know that these men have treated the LORD with contempt."

31 As soon as he finished saying all this, the ground under them split apart

32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them, with their households and all
Korah's men and all their possessions.

33 They went down alive into the grave, with
everything they owned; the earth closed over them, and they perished and were gone
from the community.

34 At their cries, all the Israelites around them fled, shouting,
"The earth is going to swallow us too!"

35 And fire came out from the LORD and consumed the 250 men who were offering the

Now consider this

Exodus 20:5 (Amplified Bible)

5You shall not bow down yourself to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a
jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me

Exodus 34:7 (King James Version)

7Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.

Numbers 14:18 New International Version

'The LORD is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and rebellion. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation.'

Isaiah 14:21

New Living Translation (©2007)
Kill this man's children! Let them die because of their father's sins! They must not rise and conquer the earth, filling the world with their cities."

As consider these scriptures we come to psalms 42,43 and 44

As we look to the Psalms of the Sons of Korah

These were the sons of Korah who led the rebellion against Moses and here we see
that David had appointed these levite men to be choir leaders and Temple musicians

Here they had written Psalms or music and here we see that far from the sins of the
fathers going down through the generations we see that these men were faithful men
who were in fact writing music and these psalms and expressing through their music
feelings and emotions and prophesying and speaking out and singing the
emotions of David as he lived and breathed

These were the sons of Korah, faithful men, levites, musicians and choir leaders writing and composing the Psalms 42 through to Psalms 49 ,inspired by the Holy Spirit of God

Here these psalms are written at the very time when David is exiled from Jerusalem,
he is far from the Temple in which he loved to worship

He feels abandoned and alone, he feels forsaken and lonely , he is thirsty for his God

This is at the very time of one of the festivals that you can read about in Leviticus chapter 23.

This was the time when Gods people were to be reminded of His goodness to
them and to be reminded of their commitment to God and to trust in His guidance
and protection "trust in Him "

Is'nt it strange that at this very time when David was exiled from his place of Jerusalem and was unable to worship in Gods Temple that it just happens to be a festival that the people and David are to remember all that God had done for them ?

And why was David exiled from Jerusalem at this time ?

This was at the very time when his own son absalom had led a rebellion against His
father David and had plotted to take his throne

This was at the very time when David was running and depressed and lonely and forsaken

when it seemed as if his own friends and those he trusted had come against him in revolt

His own son had sought to take the throne and led men that were loyal to David and people that david trusted to rebell and try to take leadership

Do you see where we are going here ?

We almost see the story of Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20 being sung out in Psalm 44

We see the sons of Korah who led the rebellion against Moses being used by God and
we see Gods grace and mercy on these generations of levites from the Korah clan

We see david at the very time of His own son Absalom trying to take that which did not
belong to him away from his appointed and anointed father

And we see that absalom meets his fate in 2 Samuel 18:10-14 (New International Version)

Can you imagine how David felt being exiled from His own Jerusalem the place where
God had placed him when it seemd as if even davids closest friends had betrayed him ?

When even those he trusted who were has soldiers and leaders had rebelled against Him ?
It was like he was betrayed alone, rejected and despised, as if he was "forsaken " a man of sorrows....

Was it in fact a God time for David ? was it in fact a time appointed by God ?

Was it exactly the right time ? or did it just happen to be a mistake or error that at this
time of exile that it just happened to be the time when Gods people were to remember Gods goodness ?

A festival to remember the goodness of God and a time to thank God for all that He had done ?

No indeed not, this was Gods exact timing,

We may well have times when all seems against us when we feel alone and rejected when
all can seem against us and it can be at these times when we fall back on remembering
what God has done for us

At these times we can meditate on His word and thank God for His goodness

It can be at these time when instead of feeling sorry for ourselves and sinking into the depths of gloom that we can turn the table around and remember Gods goodness to us and times gone by, at these times we count our blessings one by one

These are the times when we are in the prison of gloom when we can start to praise God and see the Jail foundations shake and the chains break free

It is when we are in the jail of gloom that we can praise God and remember His goodness to us in times gone by and trust in Him

We are reminded that as Jesus hung on the Cross he said " I thirst "

At this point he had the sins of the world upon himself, at this point the earth grew dark, as God (I believe) turned His face away as He could not look upon sin and could not look upon His own beloved Son.

For He had the sins of the world upon Him and at this time
Jesus said " Father why have you forsaken me ? "

Here we see Jesus alone amd forsaken , rejected and despised where even His own Father had turned away and he was thirsty for He longed for the love of the Father.

He was thirsty for the Father and for the communion that He had with the Father to
be restored, but at this point, that was probably the only time in eternity ,
Jesus was separated from the Father

Any wonder why Jesus was thirsty ?

Interesting that it took three days for Jehoshaphat to gather the plunder is'nt it ?

Matthew 12:40

For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

When alone we can identify with Jesus ......

When loneliness creeps in , it can be a tangible thing, you can almost touch it at times

I remember years ago when I first became as Christian knowing a loneliness that was so close I could touch it, it was a thirst and a longing, it was a loneliness that could be felt while in a crowd of people

I prayed to God to take away this loneliness and it was only afterwards that I realised for the first time that loneliness has nothing to do with being alone

The reason for loneliness can sometimes be because we do not identify with the people
around us, you see you can be in a room full of people and still be lonely,
you can still feel the loneliness....

it can be a feeling that hurts deep down and yet it can have nothing to do with being alone

Many can be lonely while they walk and talk with people, many can spend years being
lonely even in a marriage

Some of the loneliest people can in fact be people who can be seen on the outside to be very popular but actually on the inside can be emtpy and searching and seeking and
not happy at all

Being married does not answer the question of loneliness as does neither being in a room full of people

Loneliness in fact is often felt when you cannot idenify with others or when you know or feel that others do not identify with you

Once you have someone by your side who identifies with you, who walks with you, who
understands you, who relates to you, who shares with you, this is the answer to

And we have one whom we can identify with in all things, you see His name is Jesus,
who can idenify with us and we with Him

Once we identify with Him and understand that He identifies with us then you see
the loneliness is no longer

You can be a married but be very lonely person or you can be a single very happy person

Many people can live their lifes quite happpily as single people and be quite happy with their own company

Some howveer can have much company but feel loneliness because it is nothing to do with "how many frineds you have " or " how popular you are " or " If you are married or not "

Once you know someone who understands you and relates to you and feels as you feel and someone that can share your life with you and know that that person will never leave you and you can idenify with that person and they with you then and only then can the question of loneliness be filled and that emptiness be answered

Rejection again can be a painful thing and depression can seem like a cloud that never lifts

All these things can come together at once and feed on each other

But we see here that at the time of loneliness and of depression it can be a time of festival when we can remember Gods goodness to us, this can only do one thing and that is to lift us up

Here we have the Psalms anti depressant "

Here we have the lifter that lifted David out
of this time when His own Son had rebelled and David found himself exiled from his own Jerusalem

Here we read in psalm 42

As the deer pants for streams of water,so my soul pants for you, O God.

2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God.When can I go and meet with God?

3 My tears have been my food day and night, while men say to me all day long,
"Where is your God?"

4 These things I remember as I pour out my soul: how I used to go with the multitude, leading the procession to the house of God, with shouts of joy and thanksgiving among the festive throng.

5 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him,

my Savior and 6 my God. My soul is downcast within me;
therefore I will remember you from the land of the Jordan, the heights of Hermon—from Mount Mizar.

7 Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls; all your waves and breakers
have swept over me.

8 By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me—
a prayer to the God of my life.

9 I say to God my Rock, "Why have you forgotten me?
Why must I go about mourning, oppressed by the enemy?"

10 My bones suffer mortal agony as my foes taunt me,
saying to me all day long, "Where is your God?"

(Now think upon Mark 14:34)

11 Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God.

You see Jesus was thirsty...

Here in Psalm 42 we read as the sons of Korah write inspired by the Holy Spirit

As the deer thirsts for water so my soull longs after you..

Thirst in whatever shape or form is a need, it is a deep longing for something that we once knew, it is a need for that which has been taken away

Your thirst may be a thirst for God that you once knew

Your thirst can be a thirst to be restored back into relationship and for a loneliness to go

Your thirst can be a thirst for God to quench and to fill you with the Holy Spirit that you once knew

Your thirst can be for your first love

Your thirst can be for a rejection or pain be taken away

Your thirst can be for anything that you once knew to be restored

There is a thirst however that can be for something you have never experienced but you simply know that something is missing in your life !!

This is a God given thirst, A God whole that can only be filled by God

Whatever your thirst might be at this time their is one who can quensh that thirst

He is the only one who can know you better than you know yourself, He is the only one
that knows what you are going to say or think next before you do

He is the one who knows what real thirst is like as He hung on a Cross for you and for me

He is the only one who can lead us beside the waters that can quensh that thirst and restore us to the place where we are meant to be, in the place where God wanted us to be

In our appointed and annointed place chosen by God in whatever walk of life that might be

And no one else can take that place that God has chosen for us, they can try as did
the enemies of Jehoshaphat, as did Korah, and as did Absolam, but in the end God will always put the person back in the place where He wants them in

Let the time of depression and loneliness be the time of festival to remember Gods
goodness to us and to be put back in our rightful place where God wants us to be with Him ,and to trust in Him

Let the thirst for God which encompasses all the thirsts that man can know and experience be filled with God who is the all in all

Identify with Him as He identifies with you, know that He knows, and feels as you feel

What is your thirst ?

Ask God to fill that thirst so the aching of loneliness can be gone, so that rejection can be healed, so the depression can be lifted, so the need can be met,

Let God drive those enemies out so that we can worship in His Temple

Ask Him now if you have a thirst , a longing, a need

Lord we come to you as people who do have needs, who can thirst for you, who long
to draw nearer to you, or maybe have hurts and pains or loneliness or depression, sadness or grief, hurt or rejection, and we come to you Father God in Jesus name and we pray that your Holy Spirit would minister right now Lord that you who identify with us will identify with you and long to be more like you

Lord whatever our need meet that need right now in Jesus name we bring our needs to you and we speak out those needs and longings and those thirsts that you would answer and we come to you now believeing that your word is true and right and that you will answer

GODS ANGER,Psalm 41,

Psalm 41,

Before I started to look into what the next Psalms were and before I began to see
what the message might be , I had a vision or picture of an object coming down and
slamming into something and after time I realised that this was the "Judges Gavel"

And this confirmed to me the message about to be given

Now We are going to be looking at Psalm 38,39,40 and 41

But before we begin lets introduce what I believe God wants to bring

I wonder sometimes at Adam and Eve being disobedient and being thrown out of the
garden of Eden !!

You see in the garden of Eden they were in perfect (1)"communion with God" but there
was a (2)"betrayer"

In fellowship with God as one, in relationship with God as it was
Union with Him and in full communication with God

But I wonder what went wrong ? I wonder why being in full "communion with God" and
in "Fellowship with Him " were they found to be with the betayer and why God seemed
to " Not be there ? "

I wonder if the root of the "disobedience" was not so much taking the fruit from
the tree, see God said "DO NOT TAKE" now this could have been anything...

The fact is Adam and Eve were "disobedient" ...they did what God had told them
"not too "

There was nothing magical about the fruit, but the fact is God said " DO NOT TOUCH "

But I wonder if the root of this disobedience went back further ? I wonder why Adam
and Eve found themselves in this situation with the tempter (betrayer)in the first
place ?

I wonder if Adam and Eve had already walked out of "Communion " with God ? thus
placing themselves into the situation that resulted in the tempting and resulting
final disobedience that took them completely out of Gods precence?

I wonder where the root came from ? that took Adam and Eve to a place where they
were even confronted with the "betrayer" ?

And then we read that after Adam and Eve had sinned, God came walking to them in
the garden !!

And He asked them "what have you done ? "

As if God did not know see what were they doing there anyway...that God
should walk to them ?

An so Adam and Eve were cast out of this "Communion " with God and they had met with
the "betrayer" and now the cloud of Gods anger led them into the miry clay

Lets pray

Lord God we commit all things to you and we commit this time to you and ask that
we would be directed by you and not wonder in our walk but in all our ways acknowledge
yuo, that YOU may direct our paths in Jesus precious name amen

Now lets turn to

2 Samuel 11:1:

1 Then it happened in the spring, at the time when kings go out to battle, that
David sent Joab and his servants with him and all Israel, and they destroyed the
sons of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem.

I wonder now why David sinned ? was this an open door in Davids heart that the enemy
saw ? O how David sinned as he looked upon Bathsheba and took that which did not
belong to Him, as He took from the tree and tasted of sin.

O how he sinned as he sent bathshebas husband to his death and knowingly took her
as his own

You know its not fair really when you are a Child of God is it ?

You see the Kings of the nations and the Kings of other lands around about David
could take any women they so pleased, the Kings of other nations could live as they
so pleased , or at least seem too and get away with it !

They could have men , women and babies put to death as they pleased and treat their
subjects as if they were little more than nothing

And yet David looks upon a women and takes her as his own and what happens ?

The first child dies as a consequence,!!

David in Psalm 38 is very ill, he is on his sick bed, his back aches, he can hardly
walk,he is full of grief, david has a raging fever, exhausted and completely crushed.

He says "Psalm 38 (New Living Translation)

1 O Lord, don’t rebuke me in your anger or discipline me in your rage!

2 Your arrows have struck deep, and your blows are crushing me.

3 Because of your anger, my whole body is sick; my health is broken because of my

4 My guilt overwhelms me— it is a burden too heavy to bear.

5 My wounds fester and stink because of my foolish sins.

6 I am bent over and racked with pain. All day long I walk around filled with grief.

7 A raging fever burns within me,and my health is broken.

8 I am exhausted and completely crushed. My groans come from an anguished heart.

David felt Gods anger upon him and felt that his condition was of God

This does not mean that all sickness or illness is a result of sin , nor does it
mean that all sickness or illness is sent to discipline and make us turn

But lets turn now back too the root of this sin...lets go back to samuel,
as we read this scripture again and look to where the root of the happening might
have began !!

2 Samuel 11:1:

1 Then it happened in the spring, at the time when kings go out to battle, that
David sent Joab and his servants with him and all Israel, and they destroyed the
sons of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David stayed at Jerusalem. the time when kings go out to battle, BUT David stayed at Jerusalem.

We have to ask the question "was David where he was meant to be ? "

We looked briefly at the story of Adajm and Eve earlier and we wondered if they
were where they were meant to be ...did'nt we ?

I wonder if this was where the root of this problem arose ? was David at this
point in time really listening to God ? was he in (1)"communion" with God I wonder?

If he were then surely he would have been where God wanted Him to be and not looking
towards a certain female that led to this temptation ?

It seems there are times when we do not listen to God ? there may be times when we
are not walking with God, there may be times when it seems like God is a million
miles away , but then we find that we are a million miles away from God and God is
waiting for us to return, although He is always there with us, but our hearts may
drift away

It is very important to be where God wnats us to be...and once we are in "Communion "
with Him and sitting around His table enjoyting fellowship with Him we do not let our
hearts wonder away

Simply saying " I am going to do this or that this or that must be what God
wants " is not enough

All of us know that we can wonder off, we all know that we have free will, we all
know that the Father will wait for us to return and the good shepherd will seek
and find us , and when He does he will lead us back, we all know that God will
sometimes wait for the prodigal to return and He will run to us on that "Day"
and welcome us back..

But lets go back briefly to David and being King...

I remember as a boy saying to my mother " They all do it mum, everyone else is
allowed too "

My mother would always reply, "they may be allowed to do that , BUT you are my son"

You know there were many Kings before and after David who did wrong in the eyes of
God and they came and went and they worshipped their gods and they lived their lifes
as they wanted, they seemed to get away with it as well and they seemed at times
to prosper

And here we have David, groaning in sickness and ill health and repenting before God
and asking God to turn from His anger .

I wonder if Adam and Eve repented ?

And so we have some things to ponder upon as we see that maybe Adam and Eve were
not in the place they should have been and we consider whether David was in the
place he should have been at that time

And so David seemed to be without Gods prescence like being cast out and he was in this
Miry clay of despair and it seemed as if a dark cloud of sin had blotted out the sun

Before we go on lets look at some scriptures concerning "Gods anger"

Psalm 7:11

New Living Translation

God is an honest judge. He is angry with the wicked every day.

Lets consider what the word "wicked" means ? and maybe wicked does not mean
just those who are locked away in some prison but in fact may be people you
meet everyday day or in fact those who are not walking in Gods ways or even
going against Gods will,

As in fact those who are demon possessed may not be those running around in graveyards
at night screaming and shouting but in fact may be people that you meeet everyday.

As in fact Some Christians who are oppressed by a spirit may be those you meet every
day who seem "quite normal "

I wonder why God is angry with the wicked ?

You see in Psalm 40 it mentions the heart...twice

Psalm 40:8 (New International Version)

8 I desire to do your will, O my God;
your law is within my heart."

Psalm 40:10 (King James Version)

10I have not hid thy righteousness within my heart;

And this takes us to 2 Corinhians 3:3

New Living Translation
Clearly, you are a letter from Christ showing the result of our ministry among you.
This "letter" is written not with pen and ink, but with the Spirit of the living
God. It is carved not on tablets of stone, but on human hearts.

And so David waits patiently for the Lord to deliver him out of the miry clay, to
set his feet upon the rock who is Jesus

Proverbs 8:13 (New Living Translation)

13 All who fear the Lord will hate evil. Therefore, I hate pride and arrogance,
corruption and perverse speech.

Nahum 2-3 (New International Version)

2 The LORD is a jealous and avenging God; the LORD takes vengeance and is filled
with wrath.

The LORD takes vengeance on his foes and maintains his wrath against his enemies.

3 The LORD is slow to anger and great in power; the LORD will not leave the guilty

His way is in the whirlwind and the storm, and clouds are the dust of his feet.

Do not forget that we were once enemies of God.....

Romans 1:18 (Amplified Bible)

18For God's [holy] wrath and indignation are revealed from heaven against all
ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who in their wickedness repress and hinder
the truth and make it inoperative.

Romans 2:11-12 (The Message)

9-11 If you go against the grain, you get splinters, regardless of which
neighborhood you're from, what your parents taught you, what schools you attended.

But if you embrace the way God does things, there are wonderful payoffs, again
without regard to where you are from or how you were brought up.

Being a Jew won't
give you an automatic stamp of approval. God pays no attention to what others say
(or what you think) about you. He makes up his own mind.

Psalm 90:7-11 (New King James Version)

7 For we have been consumed by Your anger,And by Your wrath we are terrified.

8 You have set our iniquities before You, Our secret sins in the light of Your

9 For all our days have passed away in Your wrath; We finish our years like a sigh.

10 The days of our lives are seventy years; And if by reason of strength they are
eighty years, Yet their boast is only labor and sorrow; For it is soon cut off,
and we fly away.

11 Who knows the power of Your anger? For as the fear of You, so is Your wrath.

BUT we turn too

John 3:16-17 (New International Version)

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save
the world through him.

Psalm 90:1-2 (New Living Translation)

A prayer of Moses, the man of God.

1 Lord, through all the generations you have been our home!

2 Before the mountains were born, before you gave birth to the earth and the world,
from beginning to end, you are God

You see David desired in his heart to seek after God even at the point of his sickness
and his unhappiness , he desired to return to God and repented, he desired for that
cloud of sin to be lifted from him and to return to "communion " with God

He desired in his heart to be taken up from that miry clay and to be placed on that
Rock who is Christ and to be lifted up into heavenly places with Him in fellowship

Davids heart was a heart that sought after God and David waited patiently for the Lord, and when you become a Christian you know that it does'nt always happen over night ,and you may realise that the spiritual is far greater and bigger than the material world that we see, and although it all happens in the spiritual it may be some time before you see it in the material/physical world

And David was at the stage where He has to wait and wait and wait and finally in
Gods time David is restored

So many were wanting David to fall, so many were waiting for David to slip away,
Psalm 38:11

11 My lovers and my friends keep away from my disease; my relations keep far away.

12 Those who have a desire to take my life put nets for me; those who are designing
my destruction say evil things against me, all the day their minds are full of

Now we come to the Psalm 41 as we read....

Well we come to Psalm 41 and we read verses 1 - 8

And then suddenly the Holy Spirit takes over and David begins to speak about Jesus
sitting at the table sharing the bread and the wine , here in verse 9 we see Jesus
as David gives a prophetic utterance about Jesus which is one of many hundreds in
the Psalms

And we see a cross reference to Mark 14:18 and John 13:18

You see David waited patiently for the Lord, David was ill in bed, feeling empty,
he had been struck by a sickness, He was sad, alone and no one could save Him except

David was in the Miry Clay, he could'nt walk with God he was maybe out of
"communion " with God, he repented but had to wait,

and in due time God lifted him up,
the cloud of sin that had separated him from God was lifted and the sun once again
shone and he was able to hide in the shadow of His wing, he once again found the haven, the refuge, the shelter, that is on the Rock of ages,

Not just a shelter from harm against those who were against Him and God but a shelter
and haven in Jesus ,

NOW ,we come to Psalm 41 and we read verses 9

Where David begins to speak about Jesus

sitting at the table sharing the bread and the wine , here in verse 9 we see Jesus
as David gives a prophetic utterance about Jesus which is one of many hundreds in
the Psalms

And we see a cross reference to Mark 14:18 and John 13:18

Even my close friend, whom I trusted, he who shared my bread, has lifted up his heel
against me.

And so David here in the Psalms before Jesus ever sat at the table speaks of Jesus

Here we see Jesus sitting at the table and sharing the wine which was His blood and
the bread which was His body with His disciples at the table in perfect (1)"

But at this (1)"Communion " there was one who was a betrayer in the garden

Even the disciples did not know who this might be and asked " Who Lord ...who will
betray you ?

John 13:18-30

"I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill
the scripture: 'He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel against me.'

Jesus answered, "It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when I have
dipped it in the dish." Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas
Iscariot, son of Simon.

As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him.

And you have to ask to question " where did the root of this come from ? "

You see Judas had walked with Jesus and the disciples, he had followed Jesus as his
Rabbi, he had walked behind Jesus , copying and walking in the dust of his Rabbi"

But there were times when Judas did not always stay in communion with Jesus, there
were times when he in fact had already began to be tempted and fell to temptation,
the table of communion with God has already been broken before Judas ever betrayed
Jesus with a kiss

And we ask the same question with Adam and Eve and we ask "were they where they
should have been ? why did God have to walk to them ? "

We have to ask the question also for David, "why was David not out in the spring
with his armies as Kings go to war ? what was he doing looking from his palace ?
was David where God wanted him ?"

And we look to Judas and we realise that Judas embezzled the money and funds of
Jesus and put his hands into the money that did not belong to him David took
that which did not belong to him and as Adam and Eve took that which did not belong
to them

For Adam and Eve took the "Its my way " instead of " Its Gods Way"

And so we see that the root of this was started long before Judas sat at the table
with Jesus and he was not in "communion " with God and was not where he should have
been...even though he looked and appeared to all to be like any other on the outside

The cloud had covered him and the sun no longer shone and Judas was no longer under the
haven...the wing...the shelter...the refuge...the city...the protection of Jesus
that sheltered him from the anger of God or did Judas ever enter into Jesus ?

You see David spoke words of things that were to come in Psalm 41,
this is a word from God, this is the God whom was and is and is to come

This is David speaking of things to come, this is David speaking years in advance of
what was to happen.

This is God speaking from the past, the present and the future, this is the God of ages,
the great and mighty time traveller, who travels through time ...the TIME LORD
OF TIME LORDS and yet lives outside of time, the God that no one can fathom or

He is outside of scientific analysis and outside of human comprehension

Here we see Judas the betrayer, here we see the darkness uncovered, her we see Judas
brought to light, here we see a man that had put his hands into the funds of Jesus

You see time and time again Judas had been given the opportunity to repent

New International Version

Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning
which of them did not believe and who would betray him.

John 6:70 (New International Version)

70 Then Jesus replied, "Have I not chosen you, the Twelve? Yet one of you is a

John 6:71 (New International Version)

71 He meant Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, who, though one of the Twelve, was
later to betray him.

I wonder if at times Judas was not in the place he was meant to be ?

I wonder if his heart layed in the wrong places ?

He was putting his hands into the money that was meant for the Lord of Lords and it
meant "consequences"

You see he was out of "Communion " with God, and he would be cast out
of Gods prescence and HE who shared in the "Communion " would in fact be
cast out of the "Garden "

You see we all have a place in the creation of God, we all have a place in the new

We all share in the inheritance of God, we are all "Saved " we are all " Adam and
Eves "

BUT the simnple fact remains within the heart of each and every person

Are we in the right place ? where is the root of our hearts?

Are we as adam and eve in the wrong place with God ?

Are we as David..................... in the wrong place ?

Are we sitting at the "Communion " table having embezzled the funds that were meant
for Jesus ?

Are we listening to the wrong voice ?

Or are we as David ?

Seeking after Gods heart? you see Paul, found the answer, in whatever circumstance
in whatver situation, in whatever trial or tribulation.

Even when in prison Paul praised God

You see God hates sin but not the sinner, in fact God loves the sinner and gave his
Life for the sinner,

And lifts us up, the sinner from the dirt and miry clay and sets His or Her feet upon
a Rock' that is Christ, and gives then a haven, a refuge , a fortress, a sanctuary,
a refuge. when God looks at a person in Christ , he see's His Son Jesus
and all the anger of God was placed upon Jesus on the Cross

All the judgement and anger of God was put upon Jesus

You see its not about us but about what Jesus has done

When God looks upon a person in Christ he see's not a sinner but a new creation.

When God looks upon a person in Christ He see's not a fallen Adam and Eve or a
forgotten David or a sinner but He see's Jesus

The person who repents and turns to God is lifted up from the Miry Clay and seated
in heavenly places with Christ as an heir and adopted child

They who walked in the darkness of the cloud of sin see a great light and that light
shines through the cloud and the cloud is lifted so that the sin is no more

They are raised up and God puts a new song in their hearts , a song of praise to our
God, so that like David they can praise the living God

The cloud of sin is lifted, the banned person is freed, the dead person is alive
the person who was in the wrong place and once an enemy of God and under Gods anger
and the "Judges Gavel" can be hidden in Christ and seated with Christ, under his wing
and in His haven and sanctuary and City, refuge and shelter

The wrath of God went upon Jesus on the Cross instead of us

Its not about what you can do to save yourself
but it is all about what He can do, its no longer David in the sick bed , but its
about David restored, its no longer about Adam and Eve cast out its about
Adam and Eve being back in communion with God

Its no longer about sin but about repentance and forgivensss.

We are being made more like Jesus every day as Christians...

Lets look briefly at 2 Kings 4:8-37 (New International Version)

And verse 34 Then he got on the bed and lay upon the boy, mouth to mouth, eyes to
eyes, hands to hands. As he stretched himself out upon him, the boy's body grew warm.

You see God brought somone back to life using Elisha, mouth to mouth, eye to eye,
hands to hands,!!

Jesus can bring you back to life....mouth to mouth, eye to eye,
hands to hands,!!

You can be a reflection of Him as you gaze into His eyes and speak His words and
are used by Him, He can bring the dead who are under Gods wrath to life

You can be His mouth piece, His hands, His eyes.....

He lifts us up from the pit as He did Jesus and sets our feet in high places with

For the world is set to decay and mortal death but in Jesus God see's His son

All the anger and wrath of God was poured upon Jesus and it was finsihed

the "Judges Gavel" has come down and we are declared " INNOCENT "

This does not mean that we can do as we wish as we see with Daivid, but it means
that we can be restored and be in communion with God and go on being saved

Repentance is not just about words, repentance is a visible thing, it means that
when a person "Repents" there is a change of direction in that persons life.

The "wrong " or "sin " is revealed and the person repents before God and there is
a change in that person and the person no longer walks in that way,

Maybe you cannot repent? then ask God to give you the desire to repent and maybe
you feel that it would be impossible for you to change ? then repent anyway and
ask God to give you the strength because HE CAN DO IT

This is an ongoing salvation of God

You see we who were aliens and strangers to God have been restored

WE whom were under the cloud of anger and judgemnent have been released by the
"Judges Gavel" and been announced " Free "

we who walked in sin and have been under Gods anger have been released and set free
from judgemnt and the anger of God , and we hide under the shadow of His wing and
we shelter in Him who died on the Cross

Who is our rock and fortress and our haven and when god looks at us He see's Jesus

Jesus is our haven and fortress and shelter and the wrath of God is not upon us

And we are lifted up from the Miry clay, and we are lifted up from our sin and death
and we are alive in Christ and death has no hold on us

we are seated in heavenly places with Him and the cloud of sin is removed

Are you in "Communion " ?

Or are you cast out ?

Its all to do with you heart

Am I in the right place with God ?

Or am I under His anger ?

He can pull me out of that Miry world and set my feet upon a Rock when I have been
in the wrong place, and when He see's me returning He runs to me on that day

He can pull you out of that Miry World and make you into a son or daughter making you
rise up on eagles wings and seating you in Him that you would be in that haven and
sanctuary of His protection,

that you would no longer be under Gods anger and but be
saved by grace and know His loving protection as you walk in the fear of Him who
delivers you from the fear that is not of Him

Speak to the Judge now and He will listen and say "NOT GUILTY"

Lord God , great Judge and ruler of all , release me and set me free, forgive me...
I repent and turn to you, fill me with your Holy Spirit and give me a heart that
deires you

Lord Judge and haven and sanctuary, let me hide in you and know the freedom that you
give, I give my life to you now in Jesus name Amen
