Psalm 120, The fifteen steps of ascension,

Psalm 120, The fifteen steps of ascension,

In the next fifteen songs  of the Psalms we will be focussing on  the pligrims   and their steps, [the song of ascents] - as they "draw near to God and He draws near to them"

These pilgrims ascend the steps of degree to  draw near to God to worship Him, so that He draws near to them...

The direction here is from a vision I had, "of a person walking through an arched doorway as He decides to dwell in our tabernacle"

This seem's to be a two way desicion between two people and although the "people concerned" go to worship God - so God dwells in the praises of His people.

I am reminded of Psalm 24 here and ascending "the hill of the Lord"  and I see Jacob and the ladder ..

Thus this is the intro to this short psalm

I have no idea where it will lead, but lets wait and see...

And so God arraigns between women amd men, as He did with Adam and Eve when He /God decided the present day/ now/ past/ Judgement/arraign, between Adam and Eve ...

Genesis 3:15  And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."

Therefore from this time onwards they were singled out/ separated/ made Holy/ [By God] from the world  and enmity between man and womb-man now prevails

Now ask "how can everyone be separated ? if they were then there would be no separation - we would all be Holy and therefore there are no sheep or goats and we have no enemies"

These fifteen steps between the men's court and the women's court are written as songs of worship as the men now move upward towards the womens court..... [as they become the Bride] or "become more like Him"

Here I am rising up, I am rising above the lying tongues - I am letting go of, I am rising above my situation by letting go and letting God.

I am calling upon the Lord and why do I need to call upon the Lord ? Psalm 18:3 - 2 Samuel 22:4

Does this mean that others around me change or do I change - no I change and this is the first step of ascent.

Therfore I am rising up above my enemies, I am conquering something, I am overcoming something in my life, I am overshadowing

This first step towards tabernacling with God is a letting go and letting God - it is now letting my  life speak for me as I walk away from lying tongues and false accusations of the world [those separate from me]

It is believing what God says about me and refusing to believe the enemy [thus I am saved from my enemies - tongue/steering/voyage/direction/arraign/judgement upon me]

Here I am not conforming to the world but being transformed/inwardly/ as I allow God/Jesus to transform me...

Here I am allowing and giving God authority in my life to change my circumstance and situaton to mould me and not the people around me. I am making the most of every oportunity /dissapointment/mishap/ wrong doing/    accident/ trouble/ problem / difficulty,/ issue and setback,  to work for me.

Now take this and use it for your own and see how you can benefit from the warfare. [as negative becomes positive - due to your own descicions - but also the Lords as you give yourself to Him]

Galatians 3:16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed. Scripture does not say "and to seeds," meaning many people, but "and to your seed," meaning one person, who is Christ.

Selah lets pause and Consider this ...

At this point I have to share two more pictures - "well one a vision and the other a dream

One was of a person stepping up and taking a step, once they did this -  the accusing tongues and lying lips faded into the distance, it was as if the sounds of these things were becoming less and less.

The second was a dream "and a person was standing on a hill of green grass and beyond was a reservoir or water in a valley [a valley of water] and it began to overflow - the reservoir overflowed ....it began to run down the hillside I was standing on....

I had no choice but to run from the water and find a safe place to  stand as this water was making my steps unstable.

I was in danger of losing my life.

You see - David takes a step and God replies..

As David took steps to walk away from those lying tongues and false accusations.

At the same instance "God gave David the ability to walk away and go higher" the first step.

God changes you to be more like Him as you walk towards the "women's court"  - in other words "God is making you more and more like Christ His Son. [the Bride is transformed/moulded /shaped/to become more like Him...

Now consider How Davids life pointed to Jesus..... and how David was a shadow in the Old Testament. pointing to Jesus in the New Testament

So look - King David had the same Holy Spirit as Jesus and we have the same Holy Spirit in us, that raised Jesus from the dead.

What is to stop me rising up from a situation

We can be like the eagle in Isaiah 40:31

We have the the same power in us that raised Jesus from the dead !  see: Romans 8:11

Take a step - the first step ....

You see - we do not have to earn God's Grace as it is God's Righteousness At Christ's  Expense

No we simply take a step at a time and a day at a time [as David did]

Let your life point to Jesus [as with David]  "was David perfect ? no of course not"

David points to Jesus in the bible as a shadow ....

This is allowing God to tabernacle with us and within us - indeed it is not when we focus on God - but when God works through us "when we do not even realise the shadow we cast "

We are unconscious believers as in Acts 5:15 As a result, people brought the sick into the streets and laid them on beds and mats so that at least Peter's shadow might fall on some of them as he passed by.

This is to overshadow/overcome/ people- that they might also take a step forward as they walk in the dust/shadow of the great Rabbi.

You see people are not looking at the words you speak, but they are looking for God to speak through you or things around.

You might say "you are a shadow of Christ - let the Light shine out of the darkness"

So why does God put us alongside the enemy at the table ?

Psalm 23:5  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies: you anoint my head with oil; my cup runs over

The enemies here in King Davids life  were Meshech and Kedar [neighbouring nations]

So who were "Mesech and Kedar" who were David's enemies here -

Now look at Psalm 120:5  Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!

See ; Ezekiel 27:13..  Again David uses picture language to describe his relations with his neigbours [other nations]

This is tabernacling with others in a tent - [to be tabernacled] - Your shadow affects those around you....

Here King David seeks God's heart in the midst of turmoil and seeks God's heart [this is the defining step]

Here David is praying/reversing/interceding/in intercession/being a shadow/interfering/in the future of a nation .

Now see Song of Solomon 1:5 Dark am I, yet lovely, daughters of Jerusalem, dark like the tents of Kedar, like the tent curtains of Solomon.

David in Psalm 120 is using Mesech and Kedar in a metaphorical way as if to describe those he seeks peace with - but yet they hate peace.

David well knew that his enemies could even be in his own house and tent [As we read King David sought peace with his third son Absalom - yet Absalom rose up against David seeking to take his place]  2 Samuel 16:22  here Absalom  pitched a tent and tabernacled with his fathers concubines..

King David wanted peace - but Absalom wanted war...

And so in ending ...

King David was looking for peace , peace with neighbours, peace with neighbouring nations, peace within his own family.

[although he did not get peace - as his enemies /mentioned wanted war]

David called upon the Lord of His life... pray with me now

Father of King David, Lord of Lights, Lord of Lords, Prince of peace,  Father of a multitude as numerous as the lights in the sky, Saviour and dweller, comforter and Word who became flesh and tabernacles in flesh -NOW.

Let me take this first step and call upon you - that you might and will save me from my present situations and circumstances..

That I might use Davids example and this biblical lesson and make it my own and use this example in my life, as I come upon all kinds of interence and inner conflict - let me use this biblical principle and although it may not work to begin with let me persevere - so that I can move onto the second step while continuing to call upon You

In Jesus Name Amen
